It seems more like a 6.5 gen vs a brand new 7th gen, but i think its ultimately a pretty cool car. Seems like they're getting rid of the Getrash tranny which is good. Looks like an evolution of the s550. I bet the mustang engineers had a relatively limited budget with Ford and the entire auto industry transitioning to EV but its cool that they did update the car and the Coyote.

This looks more like a Camaro than anything from Ford for a long, long time. The only two main clues that this is a Mustang are the upper grille and the roofline. They thought to throw in some Hellcat wheels, too , along with a nice little power bump. Subjectively, the taillights look much worse than in previous Mustang gens, though.

I kinda like the interior as well, it isn't as well designed as the 6th gen Camaro, but the all-digital dash with its level of customizability deserves a nod.

Such a shame that gm gave up on any serious efforts to compete.

(...but come on, "remote rev" for "cars and coffee" )

Nice Musmaro, Camstang, whatever... Dark Horse looks dated already, they're a decade behind on the blacked-out look.

I gotta get my order in for a ZL1 1LE while I still can...

I hate to say it, I like it. The interior is really nice. The rear is okay, the front is decent and the side profile is pretty good looking.

While not as good looking as the camaro it does look significantly better than the s550 imho
To each their own , but I have a truck and car that I’m keeping forever. Only 3000 miles per year helps.

Interesting times indeed.
There was no mention of chassis improvements in the Ford reveal. The reveal overall was really disappointing, and aside from estimated hp values, didn't provide any meat - mostly fluff. At some points the host tried to get the crowd to react and a few people would clap. Motortrend wrote an article with some interesting details (new steering rack), but didn't mention any chassis upgrades except for new gen MagneRide available on performance pack cars.

To give you an idea on the reveal, at one point the Chief engineer came up, talked about the new power output, then said "Let's next talk about the steering and handling - it is next level" and mentioned the new gen MagneRide, then started talking about the gimmicky drift handle. Like I said, no meat, just fluff.

Overall, it's not all new as claimed, but the refreshed exterior looks pretty good, especially in Dark Horse trim (I think the front will grow on me), but the rear from some angles looks pretty bad. I wish the interior screens were two separate screens, with the gauge cluster within its own housing, separate from the infotainment. It looks plopped on top of the dash this way.

if this thing has the same chassis and suspension as the s550 it'll just be a colossal pos car to drive.just looks and other crap they talk about.
i want to see underneath.
have they cured the hood flutter over 90mph?
have they cured the 80's feel and driveline clunk?
can this new model hold a straight line on the motorway?
torque? the s550 has none..the motor is junk.
forget the looks i want to know about the way the car drives

6gen Camaro becomes the new 7gen Mustang. Who would’ve thought?

Yeah, this whole thing was terribly light on actual details. The guy that introduced Dark Horse did state that it'll be the "most capable" 5.0 ever, a title the Mach1 currently holds if I remember correctly. So if this beats that, which was already nipping at GT350's heels, looks like we'll get actual GT350 performance before any actual Shelby branded vehicles hit the market.

A refreshed polished turd with a 500hp V8, modern interior and Tremec manual transmission though. Assuming the pricing is fair, Ford stands to grab all of the Dodge and Chevy market, which could prove quite successful for them as the single source for the muscle car recipe.

In the meantime, Dodge is revealing an EV trying to be an ICE with simulated gear shifts and fake feral cat noises and unless you can afford and want a Corvette GM has nothing except some rumored 4 door EV sedan.

I would go from the Camaro to the Corvette before I'd ever go to a Mustang. (Just Me) Never been a Ford guy.
