Navigation

Do all Zl1's come with Navigation? If not, would you recommend it? How is it different in comparison to one without it?

No, it is a $495 option. If you do not get it, you can still use maps through apple car play or android auto. Can also use any app that would give you similar info.

I have navigation in my ZL1 and it works well. You can even do voice recognition for destination input, etc... Still as said above by datboi448, you can us Maps on your iPhone with Apple Play and Siri. You just have to have your phone plugged into the USB jack to do that. I like the nav, but I travel for work, and for less than 1% of the cost of a new ZL1, I added it in.

I have it. There are actually times when I don't have my phone with me and actually enjoy the disconnect. Nav will work where your cellphone won't in some cases and if you have a smartphone you can just send the directions to the map using the OnStar remote link app. It will also start your car and unlock the doors among other things. It's a $500 option on a 70k car. There's a greater chance that if you're on the fence about it you'll regret your decision not to get it. It is highly unlikely you'll regret having it.

I got it figuring it would be useless and I'd be using android auto. It works well actually. I also like having the info come up in the HUD or dash is helpful when you don't want to look down. No regrets and saves me from having to hook up my cell phone. It takes addresses well via voice command.

While it is good in theory, the maps tend to be outdated even for when a new vehicle is release. Not only that GM charges $150 per year for the map updates. Google maps is free, more precise and has traffic data included in it that the GM NAV doesn't have with it.

Have it, don't like it or use it much. My connected iPhone 7 works much better.

Have it on my SS and ZL1. Works just fine.

But so does Car Play and AA.

Like it

I like it, I use it, touch screen, auto resizes as approach destination, good HUD display and works 100 percent better than on my 2016 Mercedes S550. Ordered a front camera to install that integrates with the display and unlocks all the locked features; text while driving (do not recommend, watch a movie while driving (don't recommend either) display front camera for 30 seconds (recommend).

Im not sure if its exclusive to Nav vehicles, but my HUD and instrument cluster display the speed limit on certain roads. Not a big deal, but its cool. Also help remind me to keep my foot out of it!

I'm a transplant from NY here in FL.
I use it all the time.
If I still lived in NY I wouldn't need it.

I have found that factory navigation just can't keep up with the amount of new roads, detours, changed exits, etc. here in North Texas. I recently moved here and rely pretty heavily on navigation and apple car play and android auto has gotten me to destinations a bit easier.....just my experience.

Now if only we could get Waze integration somehow......

It's nice to have to bring up and check streets in or your general location and destination.

I figure on a 65k car why not. Good for resale.
