clean the steering wheel

My "suede" steering wheel is looking matted and dirty. How can I clean it? Can I restore it to like new?

I use this brush from Adams and towel, but use Adams Carpet and Upholstery cleaner instead. Works like a charm on steering wheel, shifter knob, seats and knee pads!

Yeah I'm sure that works well also. I like the other because it comes in the foam spray bottle and is just easier to use.

Do we know what's in these cleaners? I don't want to use something with chemicals that could be mildly toxic, since they could leach through the skin. Just a thought. I'm pretty comfortable with Woolite, and obviously with a damp microfiber, but I don't know about Sonax and the other suggested cleaner.

Here is the SDS for the Sonax “extreme” alcantara cleaner (aerosol spray):
http://www.servicebest.com/downloadable/1837505_EN.pdf

The pump spray version is water based and much more tame. Like windex or simple green or woolite tame, but even more mild. I have the pump version and it works just fine. Woolite diluted into 10 parts distilled might give similar results. As always, nitrile gloves are alwayse a wise choice when working with chemicals.
