Gm/Chevy rebates

Hi All,

I am still in the process of getting my new Camaro ordered. I guess I still have time to do changes.

I wanted to find out about rebates which are applied when you pick up the car.

Here is my experience on this ...

I went to the dealer and mentioned that I got an offer for the car $1000 below invoice including all GM rebates I qualify for.

The dealer talked me out of this offer (I am kind of a very trusting person ...) explaining to me that the $1000 is already part of the rebate.
They will apply the rebate when I am picking up the car. But if I want to get the $1000 right away they would look me into a fixed price without applying a rebate later. There are chances the rebates are higher when I pick up the car.

After I am not an expert on buying cars, what's your take on this?

One more question, what are the GM/Chevy rebates? I learned about

+ cash back
+ XYZ sticker tag
+ Conquest incentive
+ supplier discount
+ friend and family supplier discount

What else is there?

I picked up my 2017 order yesterday at my dealership. When I originally placed the order we agreed upon a price $300 Below invoice.

Yesterday when I came in to pick my car up it just so happened a Conquest promo was going on starting that day and they went ahead and applied towards my purchase for a total of $1300 below Invoice. I felt that was a very good deal considering it was a car that I placed an order on and not one from their lot.

There is also something called a Private Offer that you can sometimes get as a pop up on the Chevrolet website while "Building" a car. Check the dedicated thread in this forum section to see if any users are willing to help you get one which should be good for another $1000 dollars.

My dealership jokingly said that they were glad I didn't come in with a private offer or else they would have had to honor both the conquest and private offer and sell me the car for $2300 Below invoice!

A good dealer will offer a good price BEFORE incentives and then honor incentives ONTOP of your good price as long as those incentives don't conflict.

Don't ever let them fool you... dealers aren't losing a dime on these offers. They are both GM incentives and they get reimbursed for these rebates. They could easily have given you their own dealer discount without any issue. They made a sale which adds to their monthly numbers which equates to bonuses for the dealer with each set quota they reach. If they are desperate at the end of the month to make 2 or 3 sales, they will lose $1,000 on the deal to make $10,000 from GM.

These are the discounts I have so far on my 2017 3.6L V6 2LT/RS 50th Anniversary 6-spd:

$38,290 - Sticker/MSRP
-$1,637 - GM College Discount
-$1,000 - Private Offer
-$ 500 - GM Card Approval
=======
$34,153

Looking for other discounts. I'm trading in a Camaro so I can't get the Conquest $1,000.

As said above, certain incentives and rebates don't stack with others. The Private Offer doesn't stack with the Farm Bureau. I don't believe the Conquest stacks with either of these either.

After the GM Card Approval, I will be putting $4,000 down on it and earn 5% on that towards my son's Sonic I'll be getting in about a year when he turns 16.

Let's face it, the Invoice has always been a load of crap. When dealers try to "negotiate" like that is their limit, I say bye. Consider 16% off, this translates into a ton of money. Most sales people don't give a rip because they only make $200 per car. I am thinking of just asking to see the GM or dealership owner to get a better deal. Dealers make all kinds of money from GM on volume. I wouldn't be surprised if they made $8k on a Camaro and lied to the sales people.

At the same time, I could always buy a used one with some miles, say 10-15k that tells me it is broken in too. I have found lots of decent used Camaros over the years.

I saw on the rebate sheet that they had a conquest rebate going on for $1000. I asked the sales rep whether he can show me the rebates offered in previous months. I wanted to get more confidence in his statements. But he denied telling me that he has only access to the current one.

Is it possible that the conquest rebate disappears when I pick up my car?

First I thought, I should go with the dealer who offers me right away with $1000 below invoice. But then the sales rep convinced me that it is better and get rebates applied when picking up the car ...

I still then change the dealership very easily ... the order is right now only on paper.

A rebate/incentive offered by GM for trading in an "other than GM" vehicle. They are on a "conquest" to sell a GM vehicle to a non-GM owner. It's just the opposite of a GM Loyalty rebate where GM gives a rebate to those who have been "loyal" by owning/trading in another GM vehicle.

These rebates are offered at different times of the year.

I learned today that the $1000 I get below invoice would be a dealer discount.

The car with MSRP $48000 would be at this dealer for $44700.

So, are you saying a PO can be applied along with conquest cash?

When I went to the dealer last Friday they had on the August rebase sheet $1000 conquest incentive.

If you trade in a non-Gm car, you would also get the $1000 incentive.
