Track day brake fluid!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to ask for those that track their cars what brake fluid you are using?

Just not sure if the OE stuff can handle a track day or not.

OE fluid will not handle track abuse.

Motul RBF 600 or 660, or Castrol SRF are the go to fluids IMHO.

I went with Motul last year, SRF this year. Both of them worked just fine, though I did bleed a bit of the Motul every other event. The SRF I've just let ride for 3 so far. No boiling, no soft pedals with either, even on 90+ degree days.

Track ducting in place for all events.

cool i didn't think so especially road america.

I drive my car year round, do you think these would handle the winter or should I remove it before it gets too cold out.

Also I know why i had some other cars when doing brake fluid there was a special order you had to bleed the calipers in. Anyone know that order of maybe have a link to it?

Thanks

You bleed the furthest wheel from the master cylinder to the closest. RR, LR, RF, LF

I run Motul DOT 5.1, and also used it in my BMW's. It's not quite as extreme as the racing fluids mentioned above, but it's a very nice upgrade from stock, and will work year-round without issue.

No issues leaving it in year round. Mine is my winter car, summer car, kid hauler, etc. I just swap out the brake ducting and splash shields for the start of Summer/Winter respectively.

...and snow tires...

Yeah I have to swap the brake duct stuff on and off right away because its not legal to run for Ftreet autocross class. its not to hard to do though.

What track day are you going to be running Mike?

I have been running Motul 600RBF in my car and I have not had any issues. I do try to make sure I bleed 2 or 3 pedal pumps from each bleeder screw before a track day/weekend though just to get some fresh fluid into the caliper.

Make sure you check your brake pad thickness that you have left. You don’t want to plan on running a full day at RA with less than half pad thickness to start with. Also what brake pads are you planning to run at RA?
