Keep my SS or get a ZL1
I have recently been pondering the question, should I keep my 2010 SS with 80k miles and put the money towards cam/heads/etc (keeping it naturally aspirated for now), but with the goal to get it to around 500rwhp?
Or buy a used 12' or 13' M6 ZL1? My current SS is a A6. I love my car and am leaning towards just modding it, Im just not sure if its time to upgrade.. What are y'alls thoughts, what would yall do if you were in my situation? Here is a picture of my car.. |

It's a no brainer. '13 ZL1 with all that power right out of the box AND the remainder of the factory warranty.

it really comes down to if you're willing to get rid of that car and if you think you'll want to drive a manual everyday....I didn't make the same switch you might, but i went up(v6 auto to v8) for more power and a manual trans and I couldn't be happier.

with 80k miles on the odometer you need to ask yourself what the purpose will be for the car..... will the new car simply be to have one already built you rapidly put a lot of miles on ? And ask yourself if you would somewhere down the road just end up trading it off... as the gas mileage will be a lot less than your current ride and if you have never modded it you would be surprised how much more power you can get and still have real good mileage..... and what a beast it can become with a good torque converter and cam and headers with a tune..... You are in Texas by mast motorsports and TSP, mast was the first with aftermarket for the l99..... cam phasers and vvt stuff are old to them....

I'd get the ZL1, throw CAI, headers, catback, and tune on it and call it a day.

I feel like if I were to get a zl1, there wouldn't be much competition because its in a whole different class when its stock for stock, in my mind I think it would be more enjoyable to have an SS that is as fast or faster than a zl1. But it would also be pretty sweet to have a zl1 with a better platform to start with. Im just not sure

Get a Zl1 without thinking twice you will get newer car maybe 60-70k miles less then yours and you start off with a lot more hp

Can you afford it is the question. If (and im assuming here) your car was paid off, and you wouldn't be worried about the payment, i'd say it is a no brainer. I would love to have a ZL1, but I don't want to be divorced... so pour money into my 10' SS it is!

M6 for sure. If your SS were a stick as well I'd vote for keeping it.

Wait until 2017, to get the anni ZL1. If you track a lot, auto. If you don't M6 is fun to drive.

If you have the extra cash to put down and can afford financially then I would go for the ZL1 for sure. If not stick with the SS, still a fun car to drive and eye catching hehe.
