As the post above states, you can get an SS for the price of a loaded Camry.
Same happened to me. When I first drove the 1LE to work, people came outside to check it out. I'm pretty much known for being a gear head and over the years have had all kinds of cool bikes and cars including custom hot rods and etc. But the 1LE got the "Dang, did you win the lotto?" I asked, how much do you think it cost me? More than a few estimated around 50 to 60k... non gear heads of course. I told them nope, I bet I paid less than you did on your new F150 FX4 and your MDX. After I told them it was 41.5k out the door, I swear they almost passed out. Lol! Yet another testament to the fantastic value of the Camaro and especially the 1LE. It looks and performs like a $60k plus car.

Where I work now (last 3 months) I probably couldn't show it off if I tried.

I've had quite a few comments like this at work that suggest I must be ultra-rich for having a ZL1, even though I got rid of 2 cars to get it.

Most of these people make a lot of money and could afford a payment on a new 911 but choose to drive their old shitboxes from 1997, or they own a new Prius/Volt. I ignore these folks.

Must say that the attention I've been getting is insane though. People from my building that I've never spoke to before know my car and spark up conversations about it. My old Golf R cost almost as much as an SS 1LE but got absolutely zero attention. Sleeper status is fun but not as much as the Zl1...

I mean, I'll agree with you there. I'm also in Austin. To be fair, it's better than Houston or Dallas.

I didn't like Houston much, it reminded me of a large New Orleans and Chicago put together in a huge humid city.

Dallas is pretty up and coming though.

Lol I dont hide Camaro at work since I drive it maybe once a week but one of my coworkers seen me driving when I was leaving work and was stoked at me having a Camaro an decided to talk to everyone about it for a week or so but not a big deal. Alot of potential buyers wanted to know my opinion about it but nothing major.
