Lazy acceleration
Hello everyone,
I have a 2.0 Turbo 2017 automatic that used to do 0-60 in 5.4 secs (Best time), and is not longer doing so, now it ranges at 6.1 secs. and even 7.2, I wonder if any of you know if there's something I need to do, I've change oil regularly, changed air filter, and even add an fuel intake liquid treatment, and no luck. any suggestions what might be wrong? |

Heat and summer air, you are in phoenix and an engine does not like to make power in the hot air, it wants cold dense air. Can feel a good difference taking off from a light in the hot summer days versus hitting it on a cool night. Nothing wrong with the car, it is just hot and pulling timing which lowers the horsepower, or what many like to call heat soak.

Isn’t a drop from 5.4s to 7.2s a little harsh for just summer heat?
Never noticed difference with my N/A Mustang GT between 65 and 95 farenheit. But then again I didn’t made any measures. Edit : And I don’t live in Az. |

Amxguy1970 is correct - Google "heat soak", it impacts all turbo charged cars. Intercoolers are much less effective at removing heat from the charge air that was created by the turbo and from compressing the air itself when it is really hot outside.
Basically the cooler air is, the denser it is & the more molecules of O2 it can hold. Your ECU knows this and injects more fuel when your IAT's are lower to take advantage of the extra oxygen & you get more power Since NA cars are using air that is the temperature of the outside air, they are not affected as much. The charge air from a turbo can can be 100 or more degrees hotter that the ambient air temp so loss of power is much more pronounced. If you want to mitigate it look at methanol injection |

That's rough. I passed on the T4 after experiencing the turbo lag on VWs. Tried & true V6s for me.

One word. Ethanol. Add 5-6 gallons on top of 93.

It could be the hotter weather. My Fiesta ST seems to be affected by the heat too. The car is sluggish overall and it has been hot lately- in the mid-nineties in South Florida. Although my past WRX did not seem affected by the heat at all.

Thank you Amxguy1970, it makes sense what you are telling me, it seems that weather does affect the acceleration.
