How often are you getting a set of dud/worn out used slicks?

I'm wondering how often one should expect to get a set of dud or unusable worn out slicks when ordering used slicks.

My father's experience with used slicks has been horrible so far, he just purchased 4 used slicks and got 1 for free which seemed awesome and then 3 of them corded in less than 1 track day's worth of usage.

Before I order 18" wheels specifically to be sued with what seems like a great deal, cheap used slicks, I'd like to know how often I should expect to get a set of used slicks that are in no condition to be tracked with or last only a fraction of how long they are advertised to last for, does anyone have any experience with this?

I've had two sets, maybe three. One lasted two sessions, the other lasted me five sessions. Been a while, so I may be remembering wrong. I was not a huge fan of the overall experience.

Ouch, yeah that's wildly inconsistent and a low number of sessions, I assume that's why it's been a while since you used them.
What are you using now and why?

I spoke to a guy at the track yesterday. He said he gets 12 sessions from brand new Hossier R7s. Not 12 days, 12 20 minute sessions.... no thanks!

I bought a set of Apexi wheels for $1800 something/set. I plan to run 3Rs for the track and PS4s for the street. I just chorded my GY SC 3R fronts after 28 sessions. the rears are lasting twice that.

ha, 28 sessions. That will drop significantly as you get faster.

I get max 7 sessions out of the 3r's on front, 14 for rears.

Wow that's a huge difference in tire wear haha! I got 15 sessions out of the fronts of my SC3 non R tires.

Only 7 sessions out of 3R's on the fronts Sean, that's less than I was hoping for.
Do you get more life/sessions out of R7's?

Yep and can confirm the above: 2-3 days out of 3Rs for me before the fronts are toast.

The faster you get the faster they chew up it's a fact. And the problem is new sets of tires are like crack you just got to have it. PS not that I would know laugh out loud

That's just slightly less than I get currently.. about 8 real sessions on the fronts. Rears are still good but IMO have heat cycled out, rear traction is crap compared to what it was originally.

Scrubs on lighter cars can last quite awhile and save you a ton a money. I have no issue using them on my BRZ since I can get multiple days out of them and they are usually $200 a set.

The economics work for some cars. May not be the case for these cars.
