Impressive, I thought my new in line filter was great but this deflated my balloon lol

Finished up my snowmelt system in my garage! The area around the garage was just a dirt driveway when I bought my house last year, so I has 2200 SF of concrete poured and included a 48’ long trench drain. Washing the car is fantastic now, all the soap and water runs down from the car and into the trench drain.

Before it was poured, I had my guys lay out radiant tubing down, which got embedded into the slab. With a high efficiency boiler and pumps plumbed in, the system automatically runs to melt snow when moisture and low temps are detected. Sure beats having the plow guy destroy your yard!

Josh, that’s a hell of a set up. To say I’m jealous, is an understatement.

Thanks Gents! A nice garage has been a lifelong dream. So trying to wash the car outside in 2021 with a dirt driveway triggered the hell out of me. And I didn’t want to trash the new epoxy floor by tracking dirt in…so…I may have gone a bit overboard.

Thanks my friend

This kind of shows the slab and how the trench drain is positioned to catch everything. The Mustang is my sons and the Alfa is the wife’s. So glad I did that drain though…just didn’t enjoy paying for it.

It won't cost me anything at the end of the day and I'll probably log 200k miles on it. I get to enjoy it every day. Hiding cars from the world and being nervous about weather isn't how I live. Where I live, everything gets rust. It's reality. To avoid it means to not drive it, and if I just wanted to look at it I would buy a poster. If I only wanted to drive it on sunny weekends I'd just rent something a few days a year.

I had two options. Buy this for $42k and use it as my daily. Or, buy a classic in decent shape for $20k and buy a daily beater (like a used Accord) for $20k and spend most of my time in my beater. I chose daily enjoyment.

I totally understand and support those that buy these new and just save them for later. I'm not sure what "later" means to them, but it's their decision. Maybe later is for someone else's enjoyment. I considered taking the truck out today but I have stuff in the bed and didn't want to empty it. I have Blizzak on this for that reason.
I’m 95% with you on your thought process… I just wish I could pull the trigger and do what you’re doing. It does mean not parking in the garage (it’s tiled, heated and runners under drive path…basically spotless, but with poor drainage). Even still, none of this seems like it should be a big deal, as I always drove in the snow when had “just” one car (almost always a sports car). Its been over 25 years, but am mentally closer to making a go at it. Like you said, who are we saving these things for? ( I have no kids)… Every car I trade in or sell is basically pristine, from top to bottom. Why???

Just when I thought Palutz's post was enough of a droolmaker, now this... come on Josh, couldn't you wait at least a few days?
Absolutely amazing, a dream setup for any northerner Extra kudos for thinking ahead and installing a trench drain as well.

My garage has the same flooring. I LOVE it and have no idea why I waited so long before getting it done. I can only wish I had the rest of your setup. Being up here in the north woods that headed apron would be sweet. Looks like you have a few nice cars to park in there as well...! Very Nice!

Yeah, my son was parking his 2006 Mustang GT in there, forcing me to leave my brand new Expedition outside. So I pay for everything, but I get to scrape ice and snow off my vehicle every winter morning . But he’s a great kid so it’s worth it.
