I'm in a weird situation. I love my SS sedan, but I wish it were a manual. I'm going to miss it when I have to trade it in, but I figure now is the time to get into a manual if I'm going to get back into one. My dealership really wants my SS as a trade-in, so I'm hoping that will help me leverage getting my ZL1 faster. Having said that, my SS is still a joy to drive, so either way I'm good for now. But man I'm really looking forward to getting back into a manual. |

Black wing option is b.s so far. Thats the guy from lethal garage who talks to two different salespeople at dealerships as his source of inside info. Give me a freaking break. They will not invest millions of dollars changing things around when the car only has a year or two left in production.

I'm told that my order was accepted by GM. Not sure what that means exactly. The salesman claims 6-8 weeks. I'm a little hesitant about this dealership as I looked at a window sticker on a truck and saw $1500 in markups for FRIGGIN NITROGEN IN TIRES!!! Has to be one of the most ridiculous markups I've seen since "undercoating".

Better make sure to negotiate those markups now before it shows up, in my opinion...I talked about all of those things before I signed anything. Go and post on the pricing and order status thread and JoeP will confirm it for you.

It's funny because when I got my PS4s installed at Costco, they included nitrogen for free. I can't imagine them charging me the same price for the air as Costco charged me for my Michelins. Quote:
Thanks. The salesman claims that they sell them at MSRP. I should confirm with him that I don't want him to gouge me. He seems to be on the up and up, but those are generally the snakes that bite you. I already got some news that wasn't to my liking, they appraised my car and it's about $11000 less than I see them online. Oh well, still a good 2 months before delivery. Anything can happen between now and then. Oh and trying to sell it on Autotrader is really a kick in the nuts, between all the low ballers and the scammers. |

To clarify on what it means for GM to accept the order: that means your dealership had to have gotten an allocation. Otherwise, it's 1100 status - akin to going into a restaurant, and writing down that you'd like a bowl of spaghetti on the table....but no server has come to pick it up yet. 2000-status means the server (GM itself) has come and said, "ah, yes, we have the stuff to make your spaghetti, and we'll make it for you as soon as the kitchen is ready." 3000-status means the kitchen (the actual factory) has now taken the server's order, and it's in queue to be built. Relevant to your car sale situation: keep THIS in mind! Step 1 should be getting offers from Carvana/Vroom/Carmax. Spoiler: Vroom was the highest for my truck. And then you need to ADD in the value of the tax to that. Your dealership will almost certainly match the amount that those guys offer you, so keep that in mind. So, my $70000 truck in Nevada is actually "worth" $75775, because I'll get an additional 8.25% in taxes back to me. Not all states do this, but it sure looks like Texas does. A great benefit. So for simplicities' sake, if you get $10000 for your vehicle from trade-in, it's actually $10825 in my state, but if I sold it for $10000 to some random guy third party, I'd actually lose $825. And you can always haggle for more money on trade-in. I was able to get a dealership up about $2000 on their appraisal on my truck. Carvana/Vroom/Carmax will NOT haggle - those are simply starting points for you, and you should take NO LESS than that from the dealership!

I had to cancel an order with my local dealer that a bought a number of cars from over the years. They said we will sell the car at MSRP, you just have to wait a while. Then they showed me the piece of paper with the $2,800 ADM. I said no thanks, I will shop around and see what other dealers have to offer. Drove 40 miles to another dealer and bought a ZL1 off the showroom floor for $500 under MSRP and top dollar for my trade, which in this market is fair deal.

Why would you not get your OTD price before you order? I ordered my 2021 ZL1 1le in sept 2020 with the understanding in writing with a deposit that Id get all discounts at the time of ordering or what was offered when the car came in. Whichever was greater. Ended up with employee pricing.

'22 Vivid Orange ZL1 A10
3000 - 8/24/2021 3100 - 8/25/2021 3300 - 8/25/2021 3400 - 8/26/2021 3800 - 10/7/2021 4000 - 10/7/2021 4150 - 10/7/2021 4200 - 10/21/2021 4300 - 10/21/2021 Drove it off the lot on 11/19/2021 at like 9 PM. Took a while but I also went in knowing my order for my '21 Shock ZL1 would be cancelled, told them to just swap me to a Vivid Orange or Rapid Blue didn't care which one. Set it to base but blacked out and got it super quick. Ended up buying floor mats that were for my ZL1 the day I got it, still haven't got them delivered. Think all the extras + the shortage is making it hard to get these cars on time. |
