The C5 Z06 was amazing and ahead of its time. I had 4 of them. One of each year produced.
They were not flawless though. The biggest issues with them were... - Cheap rotors that would warp - Clutch pedal that would stick to the floor when driven hard - Not the best damping rear shocks (until the 04' Sach shocks, when they did the final revised valving) - In 01' on the 385hp one, they had ring seating issues

Depends on what you do with your car. I sold my C8 and kept the ZLE. The C8 is a damn good GT car that comes within spitting distance of the ZLE performance number wise. But the ZLE is a track weapon. If your ZL1 is just a weekend car, the C8 is the better car but not for a $50k delta.

Had an 04 Z06 that I put a 620hp 416 in along with r comps and a big brake kit, upgraded clutch and shifter, harness bar with corbeau seats.
My modded ZL1 is faster in a straight line but the Z was no slouch and faster overall on anything but a long straight road course due to better brakes and being able to go much deeper in the corners. 800lbs less makes a difference! |

The C5 chassis is an antiquated bowl of jello compared to the sixth gen Camaro or C7. It might feel good (subjectively) tooling around your neighborhood but would get obliterated on a high speed roadcourse.
The C6 Z06 is #79 on the C&D Lightning Lap full list - that's a joke - the ZL1 ILE is #20 https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...storical-data/ Let's get back to reality and drop the sentimentalism about these ancient corvettes. |

A 2021 ZL1 1LE with A10 has a MSRP of $75,360. A 2021 C8 coupe with 2LT trim and Z51 track package has a MSRP of $74,290. There are plenty of dealers out there selling C8s at MSRP. You just have to order one and wait. I don’t believe there’s a whole bunch of ZL1 1LEs sitting on dealer lots so you’ll likely have to order one of those as well.
