That's good advice! They did say I can still have a coach in the B class. I'll take advantage of that.

Good idea indeed. The better "base" one has in terms of instruction, the better results down the line. I still seek it myself from time to time. The learning process never ends even for pros

Apologies for off subject question, but posting it here as it seems this thread is attended by many "track rats". What is the *technical* difference between PTM setting of Sport 2 vs Track? I know neither provides for yaw/stability control, but how do the 2 settings differ? Anyone knows tech details! Thanks!

I think it goes...

Sport 1: Limited Power w/ stability on
Sport 2: Limited Power w/ stability off
Race: Full Power, stability off

If anyone has experience with Thunderhill events, I would like to learn about other events that are worth looking into. I did my HPDE through the "Hooked on Driving" club.

Here is a video of one lap. Nothing special, but gotta start somewhere!

Basically anyone other than HOD. They are absurdly expensive.

Simple answer: The ass end moves more

Long answer: GM says the stability control is off once Sport 2 is selected. IMHO the car will still tend to cut fuel/timing when it feels the car losing it. This has made it difficult to slide the back end out and successfully come out of a corner on throttle. Full Race mode will allow you to consistently maintain throttle throughout a corner without any nannies chiming in. I prefer Race for AutoX since it tends to be tighter and more susceptible to sliding than on track.

The nannies will still kick in with Race mode.

No kidding? Well, they may be there but it's not noticeable compared to the any other mode.

True. They're definitely toned down a bit. I was expecting everything to be off, too. But, if you watch my videos on YouTube, they definitely kick in...

There is a difference in traction control as in corner exit usually vs stability control which may intervene in corner entry or mid corner phase - usually. Based on the chart I posted stability control is off in the top 2 modes. But traction control stays on just at different levels.

So Jerome, "ass moves more" in what corner phase?
Entry, mid, exit, or all? Thx!

I'll have to watch my video again. But, as I recall, it was mainly in corner exit.
