Gen 6 ZL1 is my choice. Has the back seats that I will occasionally need and the Lt4 that I will always need for 20k less then a base Z06. The lt1 does not excite me in the Vette. Drove one a few times. Can't go wrong with either. If I didn't need the back seats I would be looking for a Z07

I had my 2012 vette for about 1 1/2 yrs when, just for a whim I test drove a used 2013 ZL1 with 17K miles. I came SO close to trading it in on the spot. The ZL1 felt like an entirely different car from the SS and 1LE. I pined and pined over the ZL1 until Jan of this year, couldn't get that ZL1 out of my head, and I finally traded in my vette for a 2015 ZL1. I did love that C6, but it just wasn't a comfortable car to drive for long stretches which is important to me for the amount of driving I need to do. I figure I'll have at least 50K+ miles on my ZL1 before the next gen ZL1 comes out. Will test drive the gen 6 SS, but doubt anything will sway me from my ZL1 until the next gen ZL1 comes out. The C6 and C7 are completely different cars. Interestingly though, I can't say I like one "more" than the other - they are so different, and both pretty awesome. Thread is getting long and don't remember if you'd driven a C6 before, but just for ducks, if you haven't already you might want to compare with a C6 - base and Z06 as well. Test driving is VERY clarifying. Last edited by harmonyp; 10-08-2015 at 09:35 AM. |

If I have the choice, I pick the '96 LT4 in my sig to drive over the '14 SS every time

Mods, serious mods, are the same price, if not cheaper. My SC for my C7 was cheaper than the current Mustang and Gen5 V8 kits from the same vendor. Superchargers for C7's are extremely inexpensive because they are such a simple design compared to previous gens. I paid $4,900 for my ECS kit shipped to my house and $1,300 for the install including tuning. I put the same amount of luggage in my C7 and we do in my wife's SQ5 for trips. We're taking off for 5K of driving on Wednesday. You think Camaro resale value is going to be better than C7? A lot of it is perception of the owner but resale is always going to be better on the higher end car. I'm surprised what people will pay for C5's and C6's to this day. |

I look forward to test driving a new 6th gen camaro SS to decide.
Lighter and more powerful ....I anticipate greatness in the upcoming camaro ss.

No supplier pricing on the Camaro for 6 to 10 months and C7s anywhere from 6-8K under MSRP.
That's a really compelling reason to go with the Vette. |

Sat in both a C7 and a Z28 at the local dealership this week. FYI, forward visibility is far better out of the Vette if that matters to you... Vette interior did not feel tight or claustrophobic to me (5'11", 150 lbs). Recaros on the Z28 were wonderful but a bit wide for me.

Maybe the competition seats offered for 2K are a better fit for them and similar to the Recaros you sampled in the Z28. I have not sat in those. |

I have had a C7 for 1 and a half years now and love every thing about the car. If SS Camaro was a low 30,000 dollar car I would have to consider between the two. but with the $49,000 I paid for the vette and well over $40,000 for a SS Camaro, there was no decision. the vette every time..................

A new 2016 C7 Z51 2LT can be had right now for below 64K, and the C7 will hold it's value better over time. As nice as the Camaro appears to be, IMO the Vette is the better car. Suddenly 16K doesn't seem like so much. I was expecting the price gap to be closer to 20K. |
