I agree there shouldn't be any free market manipulation. GM and Dodge should have went away in 2008 along with the Camaro and Challenger. I'm sad even being sarcastic about that scenario. To at least keep this a bit on topic, I like EVs and I like ICE, most cars have some cool things about them. I'm genuinely interested to see what GM can do with an EV sedan, they're pretty good at chassis development. Not in love with reusing the Camaro name for a sedan but Ford did worse in my eyes with the Mach-E being an SUV. |

If you think "renewable" energy sources (solar and wind) are whats going to save the planet, you are untethered to reality.

There is no silver bullet. We need energy sources that can scale without all the downsides of fossil fuels.

Lately the US government has been better at causing problems than solving them.

I try to stay out of the political crap, but do work at times in Power Gen. Holy crap be ready for major issues (and/or huge electrical price spikes). I was at a Peaker plant several months ago and they are designed to run at like 5% (natural gas plant). They are running like 35% due to the fact coal plants (baseline energy plants) have been shut down and wind/solar doesn’t produce reliably. Awesome for us as we supply parts to them but $$$$$ which will be passed down to consumers.

If only driving around a $70k E-F150 could stop El Nino weather events that cause all the "Hottest Day on the Planet!" mania. But no, lets not look at things we can't affect that have a million times more impact on weather conditions than me driving a few thousand miles every year in an emissions regulated V8. ...lets focus on that, and only that.

Just as an example, banning mind-bogglingly massive cruise ships that carry 5/6/7000 people and jumbo yachts would have a massive, instant positive effect, with near zero loss of quality of life to the normal population. A similar consideration applies to private jets.
Never gonna happen, of course, but if the powers that be really cared about the climate and pollution, these are measures they would at least contemplate for those oh-so-desirable government interventions (there are at least token expressions of intent to curb private jet travel, but unsurprisingly, it's not getting any significant traction). Instead, normal people's personal lives get screwed with using asinine concoctions like gas stove bans or raising minimum mpg requirements (and vehicle costs) to the sky, all the while these Significant Matters are being discussed ad nauseam at "climate" conferences where many, if not most attendants, those Very Important People, arrive in their own jets. We clearly cannot continue on the trajectory of the past couple decades, but solving actual problems requires 1) morals, 2) intellectual honesty, 3) leading by example, and, most importantly, 4) willingness to engage in real, non-virtue signaling debate. Until then, it's a fragmented, "us vs them" battle with no end or desirable outcomes in sight.

Climate change hysteria has two negative outcomes and no positive ones. Grifters make money, the government centralizes power. Meanwhile we have what we have always had…weather. |

EV cars and trucks are like the proverbial mannequin in the department store window. Underneath, all the same with a slab battery chassis and some skin cloaked around it.

Cool story bro. Try writing a letter to India and China asking them to burn less coal..... see how that goes for you. |

If someone made an electric track focused car that was in the same league as a ZLE, and I could afford it, then I would be considering that too. |

Since I don’t buy into the ‘Climate Change’ hoax I don’t much care how much coal India and China burn. I also don’t care about personal carbon footprints, carbon offsets or any of the other grifts being pushed.

Somebody will jump in with 99% of scientists agree BS. Let’s forestall that. Most of those ‘scientists’ hold degrees in fields that aren’t relevant to the climate. The vast majority of research is funded by the government. Try getting funding for research that questions climate change and see how far you get.
