I don't see a reason why the diesel shouldn't get upwards of 35mpg, but I really don't want to see what the up charge for it will be I'm guessing at least 8k

Last time I checked $8k was about what the upcharge was on the Silverado 2500 but that also includes the Allison trans. I have heard thru the grape vine that it will be less than half that because they are using the same trans that is in the V6.

Even 4 grand would seem like a pretty big up-charge. On the Cruze its about $2,500 extra (vs a 2LT, which seems to be the closest equivalent that I can see). And in the Cruze, the 2.0L diesel is a substantially better engine than the turbo 1.4L (a bit more power and an awful lot more torque). For the Colorado, I would expect the diesel to be roughly equivalent to the V6 -what the diesel lacks in power it will essentially make up for in torque. So they can't tack on too much for it being the best available engine (like they could in the Cruze).

I don't know where they'll price it, but to me I would think that it should be pretty close to the V6. But 'should' and 'will' are two very different things. With all the interest in the diesel, GM could charge more 'just because' and people would still buy it. That alone could add 2 grand from what it otherwise 'should' cost.
