This seems like a lot of hassle mounting the catch can at the front.

I used the 2 piece bracket that mounts on the left strut tower and the CC fits just dandy. It's a real clean fit.

I did, however, have a friend weld the two pieces together, once I had them in the correct position, just so the bracket would not move once installed.

I'm very happy with the install, which I did according to this video:

Hope this helps.

I agree with you that this is turning into a shit show.

I didn’t realize this much customization was necessary to install this thing (the brass fitting and this bracket).

But, some of us don’t have a choice other than to mount the catch can in the front. We have coolant reservoirs in the area where you mounted yours.

Hopefully Elite will eventually come through for those of us who HAVE to mount it in the front.

Guys, don’t over think this. Everything you need to mount the can in front of the engine (or anywhere else you want) comes complete in the kit. I mounted mine in front of the engine with the standard bracket that elite sends. You just have to get a little creative and think outside of the box. All I did was take the bottom bolt out of the thermostat housing and replace it with a stud. That’s where I mounted my bracket. If you don’t have a stud you can simply just pull the bolt and sandwich the bracket between it. It’s a tight fit, and you might have to play with it a bit. But it will fit there. Check out my pics. Good luck. Also the bracket looks close to the belt in the pic. But trust me. There is a ton of room between the two.

Thank you for posting those pics fbody.

I briefly looked at mounting it on that same bottom bolt but it looked like the belt was gonna be in the way.

Like you said, it looks like there is enough room to clear. Didn’t look that way to me when I mocked it up. There’s no bouncing around of that belt in that area right? I guess that’s one of the job of the belt tensioner.

Gonna give it a second look when I have some free time.

Id still like to have the two piece bracket just in case for some reason mine doesn’t work out mounting it to the radiator.

Alain,
I also used that bottom thermostat bolt like shown above and like I said before I ground down the bracket a little so it wasn't so close to the belt. I also thought it was a little too close for my liking! I think I have another bracket coming from Elite so I can give the two mounting brackets a try. I sent them a picture of what I wanted and got a response from Steve at Elite so I'll see if anything comes in the mail this week. Glad my car is down for the winter and I also have a nicely heated garage to complete all these mods over the winter.

Bill

The belt is close. But it’s got about 3/4” space. I don’t think it will bounce that much. But if it concerns you, you could alway grind the bracket down a little.

Thank you Bill. Unlike you, I don’t have a heated garage and it’s 29 degrees here in NJ so I’m grateful you are ao dilisgently keeping up with this.

What bracket is Elite sending you? The two piece bracket?

They sent me a PM about it, I responded but I haven’t heard back from them yet. I’m pleasantly surprised that they are helping us out in seeing this install through. I feel like most companies would have bailed on us in one way or another.

Let us know what you get from them this week.

I’ll probably end up grinding it. Thank you again for your pictures.

Question for you guys that have the elite can installed. Is it normal for there to be a vacuum suction when removing the oil cap with the engine running? I noticed today if I opened the oil cap with the engine running there is some pretty serious vacuum on it. And the engine runs a little funny like there is a vacuum leak. Is this normal?

I have the second piece of the bracket on it's way. Will keep you all informed on the status and final install of the can.

Thank you Bill.

Hopefully I’ll get a 2 piece bracket as well.

Got my catch can in it's final position tonight. I went with my original position on the lower bolt of the thermostat housing. I tried the top bolt with the new bracket but it was to high and was hitting the rain deflector when I tried lower the hood. I also ground down the original bracket a little bit since it was so close to the belt.
