Hijack = anyone heard of or have experience with a lightweight flywheel? The stock one must weigh 10 lbs.

Mine is a early build MY17 and Auto. So hopefully we can get some other responses to tell if certain build dates or M6/A8 issue.

I just checked mine, april 2016 build,m6, 3"away from bottom of belt then runs up a wire chase bracket next to block, doesn't seem like 2017's have this wire bracket, damn GM engineer's saving money I guess!

I had some strange hesitation recently around 5,000 RPM so I decided to check out my 2017 A8 today. I was at WOT and the engine hit about 5K RPM, lost 500PRM pretty quickly, then suddenly went back up until it approached redline and shifted as normal. It did this several times. I was at freeway speed then went WOT a few times. It's also worth noting I had almost all accessories on and I was in track mode. I had AC going, radio on with Iphone plugged in, and the heated steering wheel.

It does not look like I have any issues with this wiring harness. My build was 6/8/2016. Model is 2SS, A8, MRC, NPP. There is a bracket surrounding this wiring harness that seems to be causing the trouble. All other wiring harnesses are secured out of the way of the belt. The pics did not come out as well as I had hoped but I am pretty sure the wiring harness is OK here. I will have to monitor the performance to see if this issue happens again.

Are you positive what you felt was not some sort of torque management from the A8? Was TC and SC off?

TC and SC was on, with the drive mode selector set in Track. It is possible that traction control may have been interfering... I will have to try again and pay more attention this time to all of the parameters.

What was the outside temps? You mentioned your heated wheel was on. It's doubtful you were breaking the tires lose at highway speed unless it's cold out.

I think it was about 50-55F out. I like to use my heated wheel during all weather conditions. The thin steering wheel makes my hand cramp on long drives and the heated wheel helps a bit.

Good point, I neglected to mention that the best way to test is to turn off those as it may mimic the hesitation issues .

I guess it is possible the tires were too cold to grip effectively. So trying it again without nannies on is your best bet.

GP86 your 2017 car pic is the same as my car with that wire bracket, the OP car was not wire routed that way, newer builds ? why change what was working?
anyway doesn't sound like you have the same problem
Good luck finding what is up.

Can you point out in a picture which wire bracket you're talking about that's on 16s, but not on 17s? The bracket that I thought you were talking about appears to be on both.

Look at the pics in post 100, at the bottom of belt the wires are about 3" below belt, the bracket above it next to block holds the wires out of the way. Now look at post 96 pics and the wires are being rubbed on by the belt, they seem to be routed differently
I guess they both have a bracket but wires are not routed the same

Add my car to the list. It caused my car to malfunction so much that I had to have it towed. Shame on GM!

since the front end clunk (loose end links) still exists on the '18s, I wanted to bump this so the new owners can check this as well
