I like my e-brake! It just takes a little time to get used to it, at least for me!

I was specifically suggesting to hook up a jumpstart pack as if you were going to jump start the car. Once connected, and able to supply power to the vehicle, it would -seem- that would enable the electronic controls to be able to release the brake.

I would NEVER allow anyone to do what you are suggesting as it isn't something the motors were designed for and they could be damaged far too easily.
To say "NEVER allow anyone" to do that is a pretty narrow-minded way to put it. Applying 12V across the motor terminals is literally the primary thing they're designed for. I've done it myself with a battery and appropriate connector multiple times on multiple vehicles with no issues whatsoever because sometimes it's the easiest option. It's plenty safe and virtually no risk of damage if you do it right, just have to be careful like anything else involving energy being dispersed through electrical or mechanical means.

To other posts, electric park brakes absolutely are a safety feature. It's a much more efficient and robust backup braking system compared to the old manual systems. It can be setup to apply itself automatically in a ton of different parked scenarios (even when no one is in the car) and it'll have better control than a lever or pedal would if it's used to stop the car if the hydraulic brakes fail.

It's probably even cheaper to use an electric park brake now that it's been developed, too. The motors and switches are readily available (seemingly moreso than manual calipers and mounting hardware at this point), wiring harnesses are cheaper and easier to adapt to multiple vehicles, assembly is less complex, and there's no special bracketry or trim that needs to be specifically designed and tested for a smaller quantity of vehicles.

Anyone know what will happen if PB is on and the battery dies? Anyway to release the brake?

As for the post about hill-assist, you may have to press the brake harder to have the computer hold it for you.
When I commented about my Silverado not having an indicator in the gauge cluster as to whether it was in 4WD or not, the community roasted me and said that "all I need to do was look to the left to see that infinitesimally small light in the rotary control dial. Guess what? That light is extremely hard to see "at a glance", and has shown the truck to NOT be in 4WD when it actually is. So, I completely understand how beneficial small, simple visual indicators can be.

Given how difficult electrical problems in a car are to FIND, and how expensive they are to fix, I shave behind my statement and do not see it add narrow-minded at all. Your even back this up with phrases like "if you do it right" in your response.

I did not state it should never be done,I stated that I would never let anyone do that (to my car).

Good question. Someone go out this weekend, apply parking brake then disconnect battery. Attempt to release brake. Please report back with your findings on this important test. Thank you.
