So going back to an earlier post in this long twisted string... blinker fluid. Sythentic, conventional, blended? What are we running here?

Sarcasm usage to 1-up the dexos 2 lubricant gurus on this thread.

I have spent a lifetime defaulting to sarcasm and humor when confronted by barrages of ignorance and stupidity. Over the years, it has truly helped me extend my fuse of patience.

Yours as well as many others, but Shhhhh! Don't let the dexos2 lubrication experts hear you say such lunacy.

This has been an interesting thread to read through. Fast forward to 2024 and the owners manual has changed. Now the manual says to use 0W40 for street use and 15W50 for track use. No mention of 5W30 anywhere in the manual except for the V6 engine.

Unbelievable. This car keeps getting more and more expensive as I find things out.

My 2022 manual says...

The LT1 and LT4 engines are factory filled
with 0W-40 dexos2 oil. 0W-40 dexos2
engine oil is approved for both track and
street use with the LT1 and LT4 (ZL1 only,
not ZL1 1LE) engines. 15W-50 full synthetic
engine oil may also be used for track use
and is required on the ZL1 1LE, but after
track use must be changed back to 0W-40
dexos2 for street use.

If 0W-40 dexos2 oil is not available, SAE
5W-30 dexos1 full synthetic engine oil may
be used for street use.

Anything to do with GM is a big cluster ****.

What are you talking about? You have always been instructed to use Dexos 2 0w-40 oil. You posted the language in your own manual that says so. It is available, so there's no reason to use a Dexos 1 5w-30, which would be just as expensive anyway. It has never been okay to use a non-Dexos oil in any LT1/4 for street driving. It's amazing the effort will put in to not do what the owner's manual tells them to do!
