Thanks! Wish I could've ran again or had a do over on that one. Lol! For some reason my stability control light wasn't coming on as I was lining up to run. I tried everything, even turning off the car for a second. I tried going into PTM and it still wouldn't come on, nor go into PTM. I was thinking it would shut me down once it started spinning and getting sideways, but surprisingly it didn't. The problem was, I accidentally deep staged. Thought about throwing it in reverse real quick, but I knew the lights were about to come on, so I didn't. I didn't think it would make that big of a difference, but I really think it may have knocked me out of a possible 10.

The car felt like it hooked the best it did all day (only 3 passes, but) and my first pass had a 1.72 60', and that last pass felt better than that, so I guess it was the deep stage that killed my 60' and therefore hurt the rest of my run. If the car actually did launch better and would've cut another low 1.7, I'd been looking at a high 10 and probably 128 or 129 mph. Lesson learned. I should've just chanced the lights coming on and backed up and launched it. I tried to hotlap it to get another shot at it, but they said I only got one pass that round and that I was done for the night.

Track was complete junk and I couldn't launch the car or keep it from spinning every shift down the track. There was a lot left in it. We will never know though. And yes I know the date and times are wrong. Every slip I have ever posted has the same date on it. It is what it is.

Awesome runs! Looks like very good 60s for a junk track.

This car always 60fts at this track from 1.46-1.48 and dead hooks under full power. I couldn't leave with any application of power this time. The car would just spin. With the 4C converter, if you spin 1st it will short shift the 1/2, hit the limiter on the 2/3 and 3/4 due to the converter not locking. It also spun every shift down the track. I never got one clean pass in the entire night. The passes I would leave super soft and get it to sort of hook it would either spin once I was out or spin bad on the shift. Not having the converter lock just before or during the 2/3 shift kills MPH big time. The car had 10.60's in it at 128 I feel.

So is the converter not locking an issue you've been having or related to the spinning and short shifting, which is how I'm reading that? I know a guy with a 9 second Mustang that was telling me how it screws up the shift logic on his car if it spins. I hadn't heard of that before.

So the converter won't lock prior to 6,400rpm or 60mph (unlocked) in 2nd gear no matter what. I am pretty sure that is where I lost the mph I did with the converter over the stock converter. The stock converter is basically locked by 3K in first no matter how you try to set it up. The 4C only locks if I have traction from the hit. If I spin, it won't lock till 4th. The problem is that the converter is so loose, to do it's job, that I had to drop 5-7mph out of my 1/2 and my 2/3 shifts as to not hit the limiter which is set 500rpm over the shift points. With the stock ported IM on there it wouldn't lock till after the shift to 3rd. With the MSD, it wants to lock right at the top of second which is very hard to tune for due to the huge mph difference for shifts between locked and unlocked. So now I have to battle with 1mph increments and for the lock up and drop the shift mph by 1 each time so it locks at the very top of 2nd or in the shift. If it hits 3rd not locked up it drags for quite some time before it locks.

I hope all of that made sense.

Yes. Thanks. It all makes sense, except I can't wrap my head around why spinning or not, determines if it locks for you or not. It sounds like you are so tight on the lock point and running out of engine speed, it makes it tough no matter what. That would definitely be a mph killer going from a locked converter to one that doesn't. Hope you get it all sorted out. It's still one bad ride either way.

To my understanding, I do not think Ported Heads have ever been considered "Bolt Ons."

Utilizing Ported Cylinder Heads moves us to Category #4.

Whaaaaat, heads are not a bolt on. That's crazy. I didn't go internal to the short block and I just bolted them on. Took less time than the headers. I thought you three would have my back on this one. LOL. I have been saying from the start that heads shouldn't be considered a bolt on. I even put in my past Category 4 since I have heads. Just no one confirmed that and I have heard some in conversation say they should be considered a bolt on, which I don't agree with. Category 4 is fine with me. Merc won't count my slips anyway so it doesn't really matter. I need to get to another track to get this thing to hook and get one complete pass and have a time slip that meets the standards.

With the C5 lists we allowed porting of the TB and Intake manifold but not the heads. Same rules apply in C6 as C5.

Fall is here now and things have slowed down for me. Over the next week I'll start working on bringing the C5 and C6 lists back up to date. I hope all my fellow Camaro Friends in the Gulf and Florida regions are all safe and sound.
