When I was at an HPDE and staging, the starter came around to check everyone, and he commented to me (because of my car and the many other Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes, and the Charger Hellcat), that he was seeing sooooo many more American cars at the track than in years past. I told him, "you gotta let these bald eagles fly baby!!!" And, he laughed, and agreed whole heartedly! ![]() ![]()

This is so right. I think we lose sight of this with all the back and forth and blind brand loyalty.

These are cars. It's not a religion. I don't get the rabid tribalism. Unfortunately its part of our culture. People defining their own self worth by their own perceived public perception of the vehicle they drive. It's classic materialism. The individual being defined by their stuff. If someone else challenges the value of their stuff, its a personal attack on them. I appreciate all 3 Pony cars. I preferred the Mustang. The SS I drove was great, but I preferred the interior of the Mustang (its where I drive the car from). The performance difference between the two simply wasn't enough to offset that preference. I totally get someone else preferring the Camaro. Im not diminished if they do. For others..... I don't own GM, Ford, or FCA stock. |

It's fantastic that as consumers we have all these choices now. It's fantastic that GM made the Camaro so good and is pushing Ford to make the Mustang better. It's not hard to see that for the most part in the past, the Mustang like others have said has been good enough in GT trim. That was it, just good enough and people still bought them up like crazy. Camaro came back and it has been a constant battle back and forth. GM clearly has the upper hand now, but Ford is battling back. It is great to see. Camaro comes back to life, next year comes the Coyote and updated V-6 Mustang performance pack starts to show these cars can handle, Boss 302 brings even further handling prowess, Camaro then updates the SS suspension, releases the 1LE and then the Z/28 and really shows some amazing handling cars. Ford not to be outdone by the Z/28 releases the 350R. GT500 was a boulevard bruiser, ZL1 came out with more power and handling to match. Ford responds with the Trinity and uses massive power to counter. S550 comes out and finally brings Mustang to 21st century, then alpha Camaro comes out and just puts American pony cars on notice as the king of the hill and now the facelifted S550 comes out chasing Camaro and looks to be trending in the right direction. regardless of how much you like or dislike the brands, the competition has forced them to keep striving to make the cars better. that is the back and forth of these cars in the last 8 model years. That to me is just amazing what the competition between them does. |

![]() I think we can all predict the S650 will better because of the Alpha too, just as you described happening in years passed. I know things are improving all around because I was very close to buying my first Mustang this year. I have to say, I love how Ford builds engines, and they are getting closer and closer to putting those engines in a platform worthy of them(IMO of course). If not for the MT-82, which seems to be a little more miss than hit, I would own one now instead of my M3. I just didn't want another push-rod motor, love the Coyote, and overall just wanted something new. If GM and Ford came together and put the Voodoo in the Alpha...HOLY COW what a car that would be!! I know that is blasphemous, and the pony cars are already amazing, but still.......how much import ass would a car like that kick!?!?! That's the best of both worlds in my eyes anyway. Love that Voodoo!!!

Say what, you ever driven a TR-6060? I owned one MT-82 and driven four...they all felt like a wet noodle. The MT-82 is a complete made in China POS...

As for the small back seat and trunk, who buys a Camaro for either of those two things? Nobody that I know... |

When I had my Mustang, it was my only car. I needed to be able to do everyday things in it. I needed my trunk to be useable and I actually did have to drive people around more than most with these cars do. |

I know plenty who base their decisions on backseat and ability to easily fit two sets of golf clubs in the trunk. |

LOL I get what your saying just sometimes it seems some people on here get offended when people say the trunk/trunk opening is small and backseat is useless when compared to direct competitor.

Trunk space I agree (not so much the space but the idiotic opening).
