Not having been built last week, on top of the other crap I dealt with early in the process, is sucking all the fun out of ordering a new car.

I'm sorry it's turning into that for you. It is frustrating right now for sure.

I know I'm not the only one with ordering issues and dealers lying to them, but if it weren't for the dealer issues, it wouldn't be a big deal. It's just that it's one more thing.

It's hard to get too bent out of shape when there are others that have it worse. I don't know the guy's name, but there's someone who has had their car built for nearly 50 days and can't get the silly thing shipped. I understand it's a business and I'm sure there are people that get paid more money in a month than I make in a year to make these decisions, but a little transparency goes a long way.

I can't relate to the dealer issue but I can see how it can turn the whole thing sour. Plus side to that/this...You've met people with same thing so not alone. And we aren't alone in the waiting game here. All in this together. At least I am till all of us take delivery.

Yeah I feel bad for Joe, 97one. Whose Camaro still hasn't shipped. And yeah a little more transparency would be nice I agree. But until GM gets the thrill/attraction with custom ordering don't think it will happen soon. That being said, Becky, Laborsmith, and Dan something bluevert are very helpful in all this. Without them and talking to you guys/gals I would be beyond upset/frustrated.

I can say that without this forum, Becky, and others support, I would have left the dealer after they lied to me for four weeks straight, gone to a Ford lot, and been in a convertible Mustang right now.

GM still has huge challenges with customer service and customer engagement. At every turn there is this notion that they can't or won't engage you and so many limitation on how and what info. They hand off issues back to the dealer rather than becoming the bridge to resolution with THEIR representative and me as THEIR customer. It is beyond frustrating - it may eventually prove to be much worse.

Why is Apple and Google garnering so much attention about building cars? Because stodgy old car manufacturers combined with greedy, lying, and conniving independent dealers means there is a huge opportunity for disruption in this industry. And it will happen - and soon.

If GM were smart, they would offer a $99 tracking package for buying your new 'baby':
  • Status updates at every status change
  • Access to your OrderWORKBENCH online
  • Web cam shots at strategic points when you order comes down the line
  • The initial completed car shot as it rolls out the factory
  • Access to limited QC notes - to let you know they are fixing something
  • Notice of scheduled shipping by rail or transport
  • Notices of shipment
  • Notice of receipt by the dealer
You don't have the Corvette experience so create it in the virtual world. It would reduce customer service costs, increase brand loyalty, and generate revenue.

But hey, then what would we do all day? Oh yea, work, earn more money, so I could also buy a Vette.

All in my dreams.....Dough!!!!!

GM says TPW means Target Production Week but I say TPW means Tentative Production Week. I prefer my definition, because it fits my sense of what actually happens.

I like that package idea!

And I'm blaming you for the rest of us stuck since you're still at 3800 and the rest built are bayed I think. So all your fault lol.

But seriously hope whatever the delay is gets solved soon.

Laborsmith

With this TPW it's definitely tentative vs targeted.

Hoping to see some movement soon.

Unfortunately, I'd say one of the reasons why we won't see that is because the shady dealers (I understand not all dealers are shady and I'm not talking about them here) would be up in arms about the fact that they would lose much of the ability to lie to customers who aren't going anywhere in the status.

First, I am off the line so your special anniversary car can be built so long as their figure out how to get the parts to the line at the correct time.

Yes, everyone else is bayed, which means my car is the first 2017 testing the Penske repair facility. someone has to do it. Might as well be me. I mean that special 2017 feature I ordered...oh wait...there was no special 2017 feature ordered...so that means...someone messed up something? They brought Bob in. He is a new trainee. Bob, here is a convertible. Make sure it works...

Who really knows.

Yeah I read sequencing parts is issue for 50ths.

And bummer on yours going to Penske already.
