I don't love my Camaro.

So why did I buy it? Good question, actually. I like the fact the ZL1 isn't seen at every stop light. And, it reminds me of my previous Z06 convertible in many ways. A GT500 would have been a choice but I wasn't going to pay sticker plus. I got the ZL1 at supplier discount price.

I do like the car and I hope I don't get bored with it too quickly. Or that I don't "have to have" something else too soon. It's just not my dream car.

That being said I owned an 2016 Mustang GT it was a vert. The mustang in vert form was my favorite. When wrecked I looked from WA, OR, ID and CA and could not find a used manual in 15-17. Like the 16-18 camaro it has the best front end.

I then decided to try a Camaro 2ss vert. Just didn’t like the styling. It looks like a car that had it’s top removed and then “figured out”. The Mustang looked purpose built from the ground up convertible.

When I settled on Hard top the Camaro won out in styling. Didn’t hurt I found one with all the mods i was looking for on it.

Loved old GM’s for ever but never a Camaro guy. The early second gen SS split bumpers have grown on me though.

Interesting perspective on Mustang vs Camaro Verts. Set aside for a minute the fact that I get the big discount on Camaro from having worked at GM for almost 40 years.

Fact is, I’ve owned more Mustangs than Camaros and Corvettes combined. If I was Joe-on-the-street shopping for a convertible in 2017 I would have still chosen Camaro over Mustang because of how they look with the top up. Both look great with the top down, but with the top up, Camaro has a profile more true to the coupe styling. Mustang loses the fastback styling and looks more like a notchback with the top up. Same reason I never liked C4-C7 Corvette convertibles. I never adjusted to the notchback look compared to the awesome fastback appearance.

You want to compete with the big 3? Give us something that resembles an American kick ass muscle car instead of something that looks like it came out of Europe or Asia. Hell Corvettes used to be gorgeous, now they look like Italian super cars- no thank you. 99% of people I come in contact with don’t have any idea what I’m driving. Just proves in my opinion why Ford and Dodge outsell Chevy consistently by large margins. My bias is making me tolerate this car’s appearance, not my rational side. I do appreciate certain parts of my car, appearance wise, but I’m no longer blinded by my bias. Chevy has failed its consumer’s and by extension itself. In the meantime I’ll enjoy what I have, reminisce about the past and shed a tear for what could have been. Happy to answer questions and respond to the negatives.
The C8 Corvette looks the way it does because mid engine affects the proportions. However, the design language clearly screams CORVETTE and follows logically from the C6 and C7 cars if you look at it objectively. The Z06 is flat out gorgeous and I will definitely be buying one. Anyone who can't tell what your Camaro is has to be a blind fool, it very clearly looks like a Camaro and nothing else. It looks nothing like a European or Asian car. Chevy has failed exactly nothing by creating a better performance car than the floating coaches coming out of Ford and Dodge. You are better served by going to one of those based on what you have expressed.

Seriously! 100% with you there! How much crap do people really need to carry? My interior and trunk stay completely empty except when I take my son and that just adds a diaper bag, baby seat, and stroller(which fits perfectly in the trunk along with a stroller seat). I also don't see what the obsession with having massive windows is. I see everything I need to see and not having a massive fish bowl cooking me like a magnifying glass in the Florida sun is priceless! First car I haven't needed tints.

For the 1LEs. not being able to fit a helmet through the window is a pretty obvious downside.

"and the clear indication that GM had gone full virtue signaler"

...what? What virtue is it signaling?

I LOVE the "waistline" on this car, and I don't know what you are talking about, I had a 2010, just got a 2023, I lusted after the '02, my dad had a '78 we worked on till all hours of the morning many a late night.

I don't get what the point of "bah, I used to like them more!" ok, go buy a mustang (how is it any different?) or the forty miles of flat sheet metal that is a dodge.

There isn't much to "argue" with here, just GOMS (grumpy old man syndrome)...

I always laugh when people bash another car in response to an actual owner of their car with complaints.

I literally give zero F’s about what people think about what I buy with my money or my thoughts on anything.

Nothing is perfect, and everyone has an opinion.

Trunk is kinda small but I can still get almost all my golf clubs in except the driver and 3 wood. It's a great car overall but not perfect, good enough for me to have bought 2 Gen6s since 2016. I'm 71, so in the fall I'll be selling my 2022 Lt1 with Maggie and Toohighpsi Port Injection, someone will get a 9 second street car you can drive anywhere. Then I'm buying a new Caddy Ct4V-Blackwing, drove one a few weeks back and loved it. It has a small back seat and trunk, maybe I just like those small areas.
FWIW, I made the switch to a CT4V Blackwing about 8 months ago. The 4BW does address many of the Camaro complaints around visibility, small trunk opening, high belt line, driving position, the big hump in the dash, etc. It is definitely easier to live with and you get still have the option to row your own gears with the Tremec TR6060. The LF4 twin turbo is great but if they would have put the LT1/LT2 V8 it would have been perfect.

I love my Camaro but...

I wish I could drive it more! First world problems I know but with the 1LE replicas and summer only tires it hasn't been on the road for nearly five months.

Admittedly, even if I had to drive it I would still want to wait until the weather cooperates and the salt is gone. I keep telling my wife that if I could just knock a hole in the basement, put it in the man cave, and just sit downstairs and stare at it all day.....I would!

It's like a full sized hot wheels for me! I have so many cars on my bucket list that I would or could have if I had the means but this one checks all the boxes! That being said I would love to have a HBM ZL1 someday!

I do not disagree with you much, but Camaro top up/down is leaps better than the Mustang. The top down on the Mustang looks like something is missing. IMHO
