Interesting... on line, they show the 3 gallon "box" (12 quarts) as about $50. Might have to check the store...

Kirkland (Costco) is $66 for four 5-quart jugs. It -had- been about $30 for two 5-quart jugs. Seems that this price increase has hit them at this point.

True, but the Costco price equates to $33 per oil change or $3.30 per quart.

It's worth checking in the store. Online says that the price in the store could be different, and I can't imagine they'd be willing to both slash the price AND ship it for free... So...

So bottom line is 5w-30 is ok for "street use."

Meaning don't drive like you are on track, just normal street driving like common folks do. No doing pulls or roll racings, if you do then you best switch to 0W-40 (-;

You know what I find ironic about this thread? I bought into the 0w40 hype when it first came out several years ago and started putting in my ZL1's LT4. I even bought the oil cap that specified 0w40. Then my oil pump shit itself. Car was still under warranty so I had it towed to the dealer.

Dealer replaced the pump and a few bearings for me.

Want to know what oil they put back in it? 5w30 Mobil 1.

So, I find this whole thread amusing. I get the impression that what oil gets put in by service will depend entirely on the dealership.

Keep the rubber side down fellas!

I'm still getting the 5W change at my dealership for less than $70. 59,000 miles in with no issues.

You 100% can do pulls/roll races with 5w-30. Pulls are part of “street use”. Pulls are not the same as doing sustained high rpm/high load driving for 20+ minutes. Your oil temp won’t get anywhere near the temp it gets on track after doing some pulls here and there.

I mean... You could technically be a star of Police chase helicopter, so you may need race oil just in case in there

With that ZL1 on a straightaway you just might outrun the helicopter.
