And look how many decades it took for them to get where they are now. Those cars have a racing pedigree, the 5th gen Z28 does not. 1950 Superbirds were sold and 500 Daytona's.

Facts are now insults? Sad the world we now live in when people get butt hurt over this stuff. I have ZERO desire to own a Z28, as most don't. If I wanted one I'd have one, just that simple. It's not like a Z28 is a shit ton more money than a nice low mile ZL1 of the same year and the Z28 is slow in the street in comparison. This post was originally made to stroke the egos of Z28 owners who seem to miss why the Z28 hasn't risen in value and is still dropping vs MSRP(and will be quite some time before it surpasses MSRP in value) If you can't understand the reason is because these cars sat on lots for up to three years because it has no place and was overpriced.... well, you can be willfully ignorant, that's your choice. Low mile 5th gen ZL1's are holding their value as well or better percentage wise vs MSRP than the Z28 is. Most low mile 2013-2015 nice ZL1's are in the mid 40's, MSRP was mid 50k range. The reason? The cars are wanted. But anywho.....have a good night.

No pedigree? actually the Gen 5 Z won back to back Continental Tire Sports car championships in 05 & 06 against all comers- Porsche,Audi, Ford etc. Google is your freind, and they made less Gen 5 Z's then Superbirds.

You have a 2013 Zl1? Maybe(I am thinking you don't even really have one). Who wants a 2013 ZL1when 2023 is so much better? I think your missing critical thinking skills and just trying to get reactions out of people because your tubby and crave attention. If you have no desire for Z28s why are you on a forum about them? Look in the mirror and decide to stop eating so much and maybe you will feel better about yourself and not need to take your anger and frustration out on other people. I wish you well and I will pray for you. Last edited by JRowe500; 02-09-2023 at 06:26 PM. |

3 years on the lot? I bought in NOV of ‘15 when the big rebates hit. I recall by spring they seemed to be off the lot. I’m sure you can find an example of an untitled car but by that time you were no longer color shopping and close to home.
427, 505hp NA with gobs of torque, huge brakes. What’s not to love. For me the point is a low production and this thing is like an old muscle car with no tech. I’m happy these sat and had rebates. At the time, there would have been no way for me to afford it if they were at or over sticker on day 1. I feel bad for the collectors that scooped up the first ones for sticker or more. Why haven’t the prices skyrocketed? It’s a Chevy. Seems to take any Chevy (pre-COVID) awhile to take off. |

The people who bought them at MSRP plus a 15K markup got screwed. The GT350R has done well in value increase, the Z28 not so much. You can get a ZL1 of the same year and miles for the same money, that doesn't make the Z28 "a deal" it shows how far they are down. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used...349445020/NONE A good read https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/07...rong-approach/

You could find comps all day long of what did well and what didn’t. $100k at Mecum last month to an R title high mile one under $40k. I think the car I bought is fantastic and that all that matters to me. Like that article says, it’s all about performance. Some people need backup cameras, GPS, infotainment, Bluetooth, not me. When I’m in my Z/28 ripping around it’s all about the drive, radio is off and I learned how to use my mirrors to backup a long time ago. Fords have always had a strange following, I’ve never been part of that crowd to understand it. |

My original post was referring to the marketing prowess of Ford compared to Chevy. I'm new to the muscle car world and was gravitated to Z28/GT350 track focused capabilities. Test drove both and decided on the Z which is more of a stripped-down-bare-bones-no-frills track monster. I desired more of my friend's GT3RS type driving dynamics. GT350 come equipped with more amenities like back-up camera and stuff. Ultimately, the racing hardware (NA7.0/dry sump/DSSV/ceramics..) was more important to me. Plus, the relation to the historic Le Mans winning C6R.
I did not mean to offend anybody. |
