Boy - that V6 thing just wont go away or budge. I had heard a rumor that the V6 may not be available until next year or possibly at all. "At all" is probably extreme but anyone like me that originally ordered a V6(which I did back in early August but have since cancelled) or was thinking of a V6 had better talk themselves into a different engine option. It aint looking pretty. Not in the least bit. Bummer, dudes.

BTW - another little tidbit that could/may effect orders: I have now spoken to two local/semi-local dealers about ordering a car that have actually been very honest and frank with me that they only get so many allocations(if any) and they try to use them on specific cars which they eluded to meant V8, SS, etc, etc. When I had brought up my desire to possibly order a 1LT or 2LT 6 speed car with the 2.0 turbo, they did say they'd have to see about that or at least said the time frame for such a thing is very much up in the air. So, this is anecdotal evidence for sure but these recent experiences sort of prove out my theory that your chances of an allocation being "used up" on a high end car are MUCH higher than a lower end one. Maybe that should be entirely obvious and pardon my ignorance if so. Just wanted to share that as it was my experience. I understand this site is heavily into the SS and V8 trims. Thats cool. No problem.

And you don't think that response is at least a little bit influenced by the ongoing constraint on the V6? They know they aren't available, and they want to sell you a car NOW - of course they're going to steer you towards a V8.

Oh sure - but even if I mention the 2.0 turbo which is not on constraint they seem to pause on the other end of the call. As one guy said outright: "We like to use our very limited allocations on XXXXXX cars. " XXXXX meaning not 1LT turbos. Thats an honest answer. They want to sell me a car now, yes. But, they want to sell me a $50,000+ dollar one, not a $28,000 dollar one.

Its fine, I get it. Not blaming anyone. Just easily the most horrible time ever to be car shopping used or new, especially if its NOT a pickup truck or SUV. Bad timing on my part, LOL.

. I'll live. People have real problems!

It will help for sure! No such constraints on that lump.

So - I myself finally made some headway with a smaller, further-away dealer thats actually willing to work with me. He said that they are on a "turn and earn" system with getting allocations meaning once an ordered car gets delivered they "earn" another allocation shortly thereafter. So, in a few weeks a current order(SS 6-speed) will come in and once that transaction is processed he will take MY order and use his next allocation on that. Sounds good so far. Just $200 down is all. Nice guy, at least so far. And no money required until he gets the official allocation.

Then, once he gets my car ordered hes pretty confident Ill have it by early spring(March/April).

My new proposed order: 1LT trim, 2.0 Turbo, 6 speed MT, Vivid Orange with black rally stripes and 20" Carbon flashed wheels. Who knows, this might work out after all!

Sounds promising. Glad you’ve found a path forward. Maybe you’ll get double lucky and the V6 constraint will clear up by the time your allocation comes in!

Yeah, it that V6 constraint feels like it’s going to be around a while. Even so, I’m fine with the blown 4. It’ll do. My use case is back road twisties and some auto cross events. A few trips to Watkins Glen and Mosport mixed in when I can. The car will be great for those types of things!

I really do hope it works out. Ironic I had to go to a very small dealer to feel like they’d give me the "time of day" per se. So, I’m tentatively, cautiously back to being sort of excited. Maybe.

Apparently heated seats, ventilated seats and heated steering wheels are in shortages for crossovers and trucks, and being dropped in the lower trims. Article says a credit is given but I’d be pretty disappointed to be missing those features. Seems reasonable to assume that could be driving the constraints for 3LT, 2SS and ZL1 Camaros. I think lower trims get heated seats, but not the heated steering wheel or ventilated seats.
