Automatics are looked down on in the history of muscle cars and sports cars , you can see it in every car show ,car auction ,car magazine and everything in-between . The respect is just not there no matter what the reasoning is or how fast the auto can shift for you . In 40 years people won't want these Camaros with automatics they will want the true authentic driving experience that is left in these Camaros ,something special . Just like nowadays with people wanting cars that are not filled with nannies and catalytic converters , they want to smell the gas ,it's just the way it is .

gotcha. yeah in the 10-12 second range an auto isn't necessary. I can agree with that. Although my friend would disagree with you as far as competing at the mod for mod level. But I think I know what you are saying.

im not seeing that at all as far as your second paragraph. they were looked down on in the past. because the autos were crap in anything but built form setup for the strip only. Everything the factory came with as far as auto was mostly crap for years. The a8 isn't your yesterdays 700r4. Sure plenty of people still enjoy a manual as do I. But the bias isn't what it used to be. Im totally happy and enjoy driving my a8. Its a great experience. I guess a manual is special...but nothing new to me. I drove them for years. I owned a 2010 ss manual and a 98 z28 m6 before that. Both 6 speed. The first time performance shift mode activated and threw me back in the seat I was sold. Im sure I would enjoy a 6g manual as well. But im a drag racer first and the performance of the a8 was too much to ignore.

I could even argue that the a8 experience is in fact the new or "special" experience many have not had before. I sure hadn't. Manual was old news to me. A high performance automatic is something most people have never driven

Would be great if they did a drive through at Camaro Fest the week before the unveil. Just a camo'd test mule would be awesome.

Corvette Museum is end of Aug and Carlisle 3rd week of Aug. I think for sure it would be at the Vette museum and probably Carlisle too.

My guess since this is a stand-alone reveal that it will be done in Detroit or at the Vette Museum. Guess we will have to wait on that one.
