I think it is about a wash.. I've been around for about 6 years and I remember reading all kinds of little issues with the C5 when it came out. It was one of the reason I waited until the 2011s came out before I bought. I'm hoping waiting and getting a 2017 gave them enough time to work through most of the new model bugs.

Went through minor stuff with my other Gen 5 Camaros. Seems most people are satisfied with their 6th Gens.

The 14 Silverado I had for 6 months was a real gem. Man,talk about first year bugs to work out!

Didn't stop me from getting a 15 Silverado to replace it, however.

Paperwork done. Should be getting a check cut tomorrow for down payment refund. I officially don't have the car anymore. Kinda bummed for sure. But Camaro was ultimately going to end up as a toy. It really seems like a handful for short trips to the grocery store or taking it to a nearby dirt lot where I run.

I may end up with another one down the road. Thanks for everyone's input and support on this downer of a thread. Good group here.

Personally I think you handled it great and looking at the dealer it looks like they stepped up in the end as well.

What saddens me the most is that the situation made you uninterested in (for the time being) owning a Gen.6 Camaro. Yes, I know you wrote you may get into one later on, but it's a bummer regardless.

Last I checked with Consumer Reports the 2016 Camaro and Mustang were doing quite well in build quality and % of warranty claims made. While Charger and Challenger were doing terrible.

On a side note, from my personal experience and those friends I personally know have taken vehicles in for service, I have seen both GM and Ford service departments go above and beyond to make customers happy or be lenient on warranty claims. I don't have any Chrysler products and my few friends that do have them haven't had any issues yet.

Dodge is worst by far and always has been. I have had pretty good luck with my GM products. 2 Corvettes, 2 Firebirds, 2 Camaros. I had a Ford Mustang 5.0 back in the day that's was fine but I have also had Ford F150s go through ignition coil packs like crazy. As far as American muscle reliability goes I feel Chevy is at the top.

The most reliable cars I have ever owned are Toyota Corollas and Honda Civics. Relatively cheap, they just run and run, which is why they sell like 30-40k each per month. Boring transportation though.

I have only owned two GM products in my life, a 97 Pontiac and 2011 Camaro. My father was an dedicated Oldsmobile person all he ever bought. I have owned Ford and Chrysler products and I have had very good luck with all my American cars.

All cars have their issues to a degree. On Charger Scat Pack forums, some people are having serious issues with differentials.

As far as the Gen6 Camaro, to me the reoccurring issues like the "groan" and torque converter failures on the A8s....among other things are cause for concern. Many have had zero issues I'm sure too, so it's not the majority I wouldn't think. But it does seem like there are more problems than their should be with this car. Maybe high performance American muscle cars are just par for this course. I don't know. Maybe my VW will give me issues down the road. The first 25K mi so far have been without a hiccup.

That dealership did you right, happy that you got out of the situation with only a credit ding on your credit report.

Sorry about the car man.. I guess I should be thankful with my M6 after 8 months of ownership. It's flawless so far, no NPP rattle, groan, Mylink issues, nada except for the headliner being short.

This car is amazing with great handling and power delivery. Good luck down the road, hopefully you'll get your toy soon.

So I come back and see this thread that originally started as a coolant leak is now 7+ pages long in just under 5 days and the OP ended up returning the car to the dealership. That escalated quickly...

Credit inquiry? Unless the OP paid cash without financing I'm sure they had to run his credit.

This is the fastest turnaround that I see. I'll definitely by from that dealership. OP, can you disclose the managers that you death with? I want to reccommend a friend over to him.

Even if you pay cash for a car, they run your credit.
Eddie Binder at Weseloh Chevy in Carlsbad took care of me.
Salesman was Ben Pendleton.

Credit is only run if you take loan (that's the whole point of credit check - are you worthy to be lend), when paying off full in cash no reason to ding your credit. Glad to see your situation resolve this quickly !
