Again, mine was fine, built before that date and remains on the car because there is nothing wrong with it.

I'm going to look under mine this weekend and see if the stud was rubbing. If I don't see any damage, going to question the dealer and maybe get another dealer involved.

Again to try and clarify, there are two issues being addressed by one recall and not all cars will need both. ALL cars will need to have the stud trimmed even if the cooler lines are the revised design. On cars with the original design (early production) there is an issue of clearance between the catalytic converter support bracket and one of the pipes, these get the new lines AND get the bolt trimmed. Mine was built 11/20/2015 and got the new pipes.

I took my Camaro 2SS in yesterday for the Recall. They did the inspection and the Bolt in question was trimmed. Everything else was found to be fine. Build date was 3-7-2016.

Had mine done today, dropped it off early this morning, was supposed to take only 4 or 5 hours, or so I was told. Didn't end up going to tne dealer until 7 tonight to pick up, line was changed, but they pull it around and I start it up and there is a damn CEL! I am like yoh have to be kidding me! Of course all the techs are gone, so it has to sit overnight until tomorrow morning to be looked at, hopefully a quick code clear. I did already get an Onstar e-mail, emissions code being thrown...uggg! Bright side is that I was told that the tech is "world class" and is one of the best in the area...lol, take it for what it is worth, but my car was very clean, which usually is not the case when I bring my vehicles in, so hopefully his work was the same and the CEL was a fluke.

Update...CEL was due to O2 sensor not plugged back in after repairs, all done, picking up the car now.

Thanks for this. Just checked mine and had about 3/4" of clearance, but if I pushed the coolant line to the left it would barely make contact. Even though highly improbable it would ever do that on its own, I went ahead and cut the stud off anyway just for good measure. 5 minutes work with an air saw and avoided a trip to the dealer.

Like you, my cars visit the dealer only as a very last resort.

That makes sense in my case. Thanks for the clarification!

Question

I think the determining factor on the replacement is the black sleeve. If it is present, you skip replacing the line and perform only steps 4-6 and 10. If the black sleeve is NOT present you perform all steps including the line replacement. Document really doesn't say to check for clearance where the pipe goes over the catalytic converter brace bracket. Seems mandatory if black sleeve is NOT present. Had mine performed last month. Build date was 2015. I know they didn't replace the line. Will be checking this weekend.

2. Determine if the transmission fluid cooler inlet pipe has a black sleeve on it where the pipe goes over the catalytic converter brace bracket (1).
If a black sleeve is NOT present, proceed to the next step.
If a black sleeve is present, proceed to steps 4-6, and 10.

Hi aldaran,

We do apologize for any inconvenience caused by this cooler line concern! If it'd be of interest, we'd be happy to get in contact with your dealer to offer an additional layer of assistance.

Please feel free to send us a private message with further details!

All the best,

Angela O.

Mine had an orange sleeve above the cat support pipe. I trimmed the stud and called it a day, hate to have the dealer work on my car and make things worse unless absolutely necessary. With the orange sleeve obviously GM knew there was opportunity for contact.

Mine was just fixed this Wednesday. We have a great service department and it all went well. Didn't know about this recall, however, our service manager notified me when I was having a flat tire replaced. Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton has never disappointed me. Very thankful that I have them to deal with.

Can anyone confirm if the front fascia has to be removed to do this recall? Had mine done, and after washing the car for the first time after the service, I noticed that the leading edge of the hood (middle) is lower than before and doesn't quite match the bumper now. I asked the service adviser if it had to be removed and he said no......now I'm not so sure.
