How much did you pay for installation? Thanks

My dealer charged 1 hour of labor to install the intake and then billed the calibration to the charge code included with the intake. I checked the tune before and after installation and it looks like the only change was MAF calibration.

I didn't detect much of a difference in sound or performance on the drive home but maybe my butt dyno calibration isn't as sensitive as others. I bought it as much for looks as anything. Planning to take the car to the local dragstrip next week to see if there is any noticeable improvement on the timeslip.

I got mine back today with the tune and would have to say that driving it pre tune and post tune with the intake on made noticible differences. It definitely feels faster, but official dyno will let us know..

I installed it myself and it was mostly a breeze... The tune took to the 16 just fine and it positively impacted my idle. The car definitely seems to like track mode more and I notice audible changes in the tone of the car.

Got this in an email yesterday. Interesting alternative. I didn't know Holley made these. They're claiming big gains.

Just installed mine, I did it myself and did not get it tuned. Probably won't get it tuned either.

does it pick up air from same place as stock intake does

Yes it does, just not via a "snorkel" (which can actually restrict air flow). I've seen other posts (in other threads) that misrepresent this - just because there is no snorkel, doesn't mean it doesn't get at least the vast majority of its air from the same source.

Just got mine and got it installed today. A couple of things I noticed that have been misstated here...

- The "felt" around the MAF location is actually a Hydrocarbon absorption pad per the documentation with it (someone had mentioned it didn't have this as being the reason it wasn't able to be CARB certified... don't think that was accurate).

- Appears to be a dry filter (vs oiled which was mentioned here). Nothing in the documentation verifies this though. If it's oiled, they did the best job I've ever seen on an oiled filter as there is ZERO excess oil anywhere. I was really curious about this as any excess oil that gets past the filter can get on the MAF sensor and cause the reading to be skewed (one of the reasons I've been told that OEMs don't like oiled filters).

Another comment here (my understanding of this stuff, but will admit I've been a diesel guy for a long time so if I'm incorrect I stand to be corrected)... the tune may be to correct the MAF calibration mainly for emissions purposes. But correcting that gets the A/F ratios back to spec - more air, so therefore more fuel. The CAI gives you more air mass (the whole purpose of any CAI) - so without correcting it, the A/F ratios are leaned out. Yes the O2 sensor will see more unburied O2 and help to adjust, but better if the CAF is re-calibrated for it. I'd guess GM didn't want to state a performance increase due to it being minimal and not exactly the same car to car, and didn't want to deal with a bunch of folks complaining.

Going to do a before and after compare on the map with HP Tuners just to see what all GM changes with the CAI tune so we have some additional facts to add to this conversation. I'll get the tune done this week.

Someone already did this and posted that the only change was the MAF calibration - look just about 10 or so posts above this.
