I am also in the Camaro or Challenger predicament. I've been a diehard mustang guy since before I could drive. Have had a few over the years. The S550 isn't doing it for me.
Went to the dealership and drove a 2SS, immediately fell in love. Unfortunately my wife likes the Challenger in terms of both looks and size. We have a 5 year old who would need a car seat in the back and the Challenger would definitely make it easier, but it's not the same lol. I already agreed to get an automatic, at least let me pick the vehicle .

Yup. My 3 year old fits fine as well. Even with my wife in the front passenger seat. The wife is 5'10" and is comfortable with the kid behind her. |

I was in the same predicament back in April and decided to go with a Challenger SRT 392. My buddy ended up getting a 2SS. BOTH are great cars but the Camaro is a many people say are great as a 2 seater. The Challenger is definitely better to handle your needs.

I was in the predicament....but with all the issues Ive had with Dodge Im NEVER buying one again. Sure brands have their issues but Dodge does not try to fix the issue, they would put a "band aid" on it and call it good. Had issues with electronics and A/C constantly.....lesson learned DONE with Dodge. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

Challenger all the way. I've owned 10 challengers, 10 corvettes, more Fbody's then I can keep track of and currently own both a scat pack and a 5th gen camaro. As soon as you mentioned the kid factor, the answer became challenger. I did shop the 6th gen before I bought my scat pack but for me the camaro has nothing on the challenger. Challenger sounds better (yes 6th gen had NPP), has a fatter power curve, and has a lot more room. My camaro is very cramped. I like roominess. However...if I was a canyon carver...the camaro would be my choice. Just my opinion.

I was between the 2 myself. I sold an SRT8 Magnum to get into a Challenger SRT as a daily driver. I need to take adults in the back seat from time to time and the Challenger will hold a 6 footer in the back.
I still have a modded 99 Formula with a 7.5L LS7 that can really eat up corners, so the cushier ride will not be to bad in Challenger. Pretty happy with the SRt so far. I would love a ZL1, but it is too much for a winter car. The 392 will be hand full as it is. Good luck, both nice cars, the Challenger is more of a GT cruiser than the Camaro.

If i was buying for fun and family in mind I would get the chevy SS. It may not beat the scat in a straight line but it will toast it as soon as you get to turn the steering wheel. I really really like the SS. If I'm ever rich enough to have a loaded ltz duramax, a camaro ss, and a family car the SS is my pick hands down.
If you are looking for a fun car and family convenience is low on the requirements scale get the camaro. You will love it! I have the manual but I believe i read somewhere on these forums that it's a particular setting (maybe competition mode) that you need to be in to get the instant shifts from the paddles. |

No WAY I'd get a SS over a Challenger. Not even in the same league.

Agreed after driving both myself. Charger SRT or Scat is even better for when directly comparing with the SS.
