The manuals need a better tire, this has been established already. No gearing changes this time around either...plus an added ELSD along with those tires. I think that should be good for a tenth or so.

After I posted this, I see that there may not be a difference in the transmission gearing. So with MRC and tires, the new 1LE will be a better all around car.
A stock auto L99 was a good 2-4 tenths slower then a well driven stock manual LS3 in the 1/4 mile.

Just checked out the fast list and I stand corrected. I just remember that people had a hard time launching with the Goodyear Eagle F1's. Interesting that the autos were faster in the stock ZL1's.

There were quite a few factors as to why stock L99's were so much slower than a stock LS3 SS..the two biggest being the engine and transmission tune.

The 6L80 and 6L90 were pretty well geared, and gobbled up the LSA in the ZL1 since both the manual and auto's had the same LSA and same tune, except to account for the obvious differences.

It's really, really tough to launch and run cars with over 500HP with a manual. The auto makes it easier, but it's still not what I would call "easy".

What I hate about the whole GT350 thing is how can anyone ever test drive it? you almost have to log down 5K plus over sticker for a car you can't even test drive ? and if you buy used you still pay that price and if it has just the tech pack it has overheating issues. I do think its a great looking car but the whole process bothers me. If it were straight forward like the camaro i would def consider it

It generally the same case with the ZL1 and Z/28s...Corvettes of any model....even Ford's GT500 of yesteryear was pretty much un-test-driveable.

I'm sure when the ZL1 first see the streets, there will be some mark up and difficulty in test driving one.

I was able to test drive it because it's viewed as an option on the SS, not a different model.

Finding a 1LE on the lots was rare though, they usually were only special ordered.
