Yes, but the company owned store has got to be more concerned about getting their cars to perform correctly if they intend to sell more of them and have brand loyalty. Dealerships are a bit more disconnected in my experiences, and some have extremely rude service staff who should have been let go long ago, but they are kept?

"Nearly 3,000 Chevy dealers and dealership employees spent two days in the desert for the annual business meeting. But, for a change, they didn't stay holed up for hours in a windowless ballroom. Instead, they got to tear around a racetrack at nearby Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, flogging pre-production 2016 Camaro coupes and Malibu sedans." |

GM used to have GMC stores owned by GM. Didn't work out too well.
Ready for UAW represented mechanics?

Ready for union represented mechanics, UAW or other? A RESOUNDING yes. Unions bring education and competence standards to the areas they represent and fairness to how these standards are enforced.
Blame all the current woes of the American experience on organized labor as many do, if it was not for the organized labor movement most Americans would not have achieved the benefits of the industrial revolution we now enjoy. Was it effective? Depends on point of view, but private sector union membership is less than 8% of the work force and I do not know of anyone who would argue the middle class is better off today than it was 20 0r 30 years ago. I do try to avoid these kinds of arguments but any insistence that organized labor is bad brings out my long guns. Moderators may ban me as they want, but this is my view. Laborsmith |

I am not familiar with those GM owned GMC stores -- when was that?
Well I have to say the auto industry needs a MASSIVE shake-up and Tesla has been doing its part. If the rumors are true about Apple entering automotive, it will as well. I think some of the bad apples at dealerships today are in-part because of unions where it is too difficult to let go poor or incompetent staff. There are some systemic issues as well. There are so many examples I could provide where my Chevrolet's are given back to me after a repair and the root cause was missed, things are broke or not how they were when the cars went into the shop, or this 21 point inspection misses "point 22", which is something common sense that should have been uncovered! I think there are more issues w/GM service shops after the factory warranty expires, because people are paying attention to details, costs and issues more.
