I have grown to really dislike 5th gen camaro owners. Sorry if this hurts people's feelings, but I'm gonna get this out.

In addition to the mostly pointless nonsense on the forums, my local car show has also left me annoyed. I have been going to this show for 10+ years. Since I got my 5th gen, I have continued to park with some of buddies I have made over the years, ranging from a 4th gen LT1 to an old Nova to a straight up army Jeep. We walk around the show and check out all the cars, chat, share stories, and hang out.

Then we have the 5th gen crew. They constantly wave me over to park near them when I roll in, but I snub them every time.

They gather at the show, created their own section away from everyone else. They take up more parking spaces than necessary (surprise surprise) and try to prevent others from parking in "their area". They have their own lame "5th gen" tshirts, and congregate in a little huddle like a high school clique. They don't make an effort to walk around the show or talk to others. A few of them need to start their cars and rev their awful, raspy sounding home brew exhaust. Not even the pro-street Chevelles do this. The king of their group actually has a cold air intake that he installed himself! Whoa! The appearance master of the group has a camaro that has every possible appendage and body piece converted to chrome. The car blinds people when it is sunny out. All the while, they look down and act smug towards the car show visitors that don't have muscle cars that just came to enjoy the night. As the show concludes, they incessantly rev and peel out of the parking lot, leaving on an even more obnoxious note.

Not sure what it is about this car, but this crowd is very disappointing. The 5th gen camaro is just another muscle car. It is not "better" than anything else out there, it's just another platform. Being one of the tens of thouasans of people that owns one does not put you in some sort of exclusive club. It is still just a car. Get over yourselves.
Wait unitl the ZL1 crews start popping up. Have you read the threads lately? A Camaro SS with a few upgrades, a crappy supercharger and a badge that says ZL1 and now the SS is just another vehicle to be snubbed at. Hahahahaha.........
I hear you man. It's just a car.

I hear what the OP is saying which is why i just pretty much keep to myself and enjoy my car . I don't post much and when I go to car shows I just park in the general area and enjoy the show . Why get involved with people you don't know anyway . I just don't get it .

Oh the irony. Because 95% of Camaro5 has become "pointless" threads.
Wheelman, I like your post/perception about 5th gen'ers.

Oddly and this is my honest impression after reading your complaints.................It seems you're haunted by a alter ego/personality that hates everyone that owns a 5Gen Camaro..........excluding yourself.

That's some funny shit right there . I've had C3 , C4 and C5 corvettes and that crowd is a bunch of old farts anyway . Have you ever seen them at car shows with their corvette flags , lounge chairs , hats etc . It's a joke . I enjoy the car for the car and just keep to myself . I have enough friends .

A lot on this forum has changed now that more 5th gens are being sold. im surprised that you arent getting a lot of bashing off this thread surprisingly so many people agree with you. i you sir. for sayin it how it is.

Yo WheelmanSS

I find there's three experiences. There's the afternoon show at the fairgrounds where you're bound to meet tons of gearheads and proud owners whether they've ever turned a wrench or not. There's the Thur-Sat nite cruise ins, where you get the multiple cliques (good and bad). Then there's the weekend empty lot hangouts with tons of street racers and s**t talkers.

I dig all three, but only cruise thru the weekend hangouts to see the lineup then lay some rubber on the way out to keep spirits high. I've given up on the others, even though we have two nice condition classic muscle cars as well as the SS. I'm still a fan of shows and cruise ins, but it does feel like there's less and less communication.
I can see why you'd not want to be lumped in with the Stepford Camaros. But if your Camaro is parked next to my 455 Olds, and my wife's 79 Z-28, then the people that "get it" will know the type car owner you are, and will appreciate your bad ass wheels!
