I mean I just put a 6-in turbo inlet wire screen cover on it so I don't know what else I can say other than the fact that it's 6 in or 152mm reducing to 112mm.

Gents
What matters is I.D. not O.D. and the BG necks down to 4.5” through the MAF as Jason posted much earlier in this thread. I didn’t believe him so I pulled my filter off and measured it myself with my calipers. It is indeed 4.5” internal diameter. So having the 6” filter is all well and good, but the intake is only as strong as it’s weakest link. I think there is room for improvement at higher power levels.

Yeah, i understand ID is what matters. Just was comparing on OD, as im pretty sure that was apples to apples with what JSH was looking at.
I had no idea the maf cross section was 4.5", btw. I agree with the weakest link, but will say that due to some research with air compressor intakes, I know that even with a small orifice or a neck down in diameter, the larger pipe nets more intake flow. Friction factors and mass flow area are in play I imagine.

This is our current prototype with a 5.5" ID from bellmouth to TB. We are going to play with bellmouth size, and as mentioned, blocking the bellmouth in so most of the air is pulled from the headlight opening rather than the engine bay. As soon as we put it on the throttle body started to get forced closed.

You're pulling so much more air than the rest of us making your situation unique. Btw, one of my insulated intercooler lines runs thru the intake route just behind the headlight and the air blew the insulation off of it on my first jaunt with the ram air headlight mods. It's getting more air now. I'm now wondering if the RF is useless.

I don't think the RF is useless in most applications. I'm fairly certain I would suck a stock air tube closed with this setup now. Lol

Jason, off topic- are your coil packs mounted on the firewall, I assume? Looks clean.

Using the second tune for this setup, the boost increased 1# to 20.1 and the total manifold pressure to 32 (+1#). So, the air intake mods (ram air, headlight backing, bellmouth, RF area seals) made since my last run in April 2023 have done some good. I plan to make some hits at the strip on the 20th, and we'll see.
