I promise you crank case ventilation is critical. Yes I was running a lot of boost when I broke mine but we weren't venting the crankcase properly and with at least 16 lbs of boost on a stock Lt1 the seals just won't handle it and cylinders 1 and 8 couldn't either.

Or you can just add LT4 fueling and a splash of E and enjoy ZL1+ power levels anyway.

Bingo. Still running a standard LT1 crank seal here at nearly triple stock LT1 horsepower levels. MM Wild CC, FTW.

The thing is, that is the only thing the coyote has going for it: handles more boost stock. The MT-82 connected to that coyote is one of the worst transmissions i ever drove. Compared to the camaro, the s550 handles like crap. The coyote makes no torque under 5K rpm. The fit and finish was god awful on the new gt I test drove in 2020. Some body part gaps were large enough to kick a field goal through. What good is having a more boost friendly engine if everything else that it is connected to is sub par? I'm happy a SBE LT1 will handle 7 to 10 lbs safely when fueling is set up right. If more is required, drop-ins or a shortblock can sort you out.

I do like the 4 valves but love wasting them from a stoplight in my work truck.

Most opt for the 10spd so no need for the mt-82 or being below 5k in the powerband on the street. They must be doing something right because they've actually got a 7th gen on the way.

Yeah I'm one of those people that does not find any sort of enjoyment owning/driving an automatic sports/muscle car. I could care less about it being quicker than a manual, might as well have a Tesla if that was the point. As far as what they are doing right, it's pretty simple: advertising.

The Coyote isn't as bullet proof as the internet makes them out to be. They need oil pump gears above 700-750whp, then they can make some big power. Changing oil pump gears in a Coyote is almost as labor intensive as drop in rods/ pistons in a LT. I do agree they have the edge with boost as they should. It's physically a much larger engine overall. One look at the heads and it's pretty clear that with a power adder they can flow more air.

That doesn't mean the LT can't handle boost if done correctly. I have been FI for 4yrs and have over 100 dragy pulls logged in my app not including what I have deleted.

The biggest mistake on this platform is not spending money on fueling and using meth as supplemental fuel. The SBE LT1 doesn't like that combination. That isn't to say Meth doesn't work, it's just there is little room for error such as improper distribution on this engine.

Pardon my ignorance but what would be a good way to properly vent my crankcase ?

I'm installing LT4 fueling soon and probably turning up the boost a few #'s

Mighty Mouse Wild or Metco oil cap breather with 1 way check valve.

I'm currently running the Metco valve cover breather and it seems to be working well. Several hard pulls and no blown seals!

Will that pass inspection or remove b4?
