Hey 1968ss350, have you had any issues with the Maggie or with the car since going with boost? I have to say that 470 rwhp sounds pretty low compared to what they advertise. However, I’m not looking to squeeze every bit of hp I can get. I’d be happy with a 100 rwhp gain.

The first "canned" cals from magnuson ended up pretty rich on some cars, they have since been corrected. Did you contact Magnuson with the issue?
A custom tune is the best way to go if you want the max power from your combination though...

Does anybody know if you can run a very conservative tune with the LT4 blower kit? Can the tune and psi level be tuned down to say 6-7psi? Trying to play it safe as possible for a daily driver. I want boost but don’t want to go crazy with it.

My original SCT handheld Power Enrich was off on mine, Mike corrected that quickly while I was on the dyno. Then it kicked some ass at 544/559 on the next pull on 93 octane. Then we went out and ran 10.91@129 on the first pass and 10.82 on the second on the handheld tune. Not bad I would say. We progressed just a little from there.

He made 509whp after a custom tune. The final number does not mean a whole lot anyway. Really need a baseline pull then compare gains. All dynos read different...he could go to another dyno and make 550whp.

Andy’s tune puts out 8psi. Which from what I understand is pretty conservative.

The tune has nothing to do with boost pressure on a PD or Centri blower setup. The pulley size and intake/exhaust/engine flow effect boost psi. For example....put headers on and boost pressure will drop but you will still make more power. Boost psi is just a measure of restriction.

That being said, ADM's base kit is designed to make 8psi with stock exhaust.

What psi would be considered “safe” to run on the LT1 stock internals? I’ve heard horror stories about guys throwing a piston at only 10psi, however, I think that has to be a tune issue more than anything.

I've been sitting just over 10PSI since I had my Whipple installed at 3k miles and now I'm at 12k. I beat it up throughout the summer with no meth for cooling. The consensus from a bunch of the shops that I've spoke to say 10PSI is as far as they'd like to push a stock LT1. But I'm guessing adding meth which can keep it clean and cool helps push that limit into the 700's.

I did see a 2016 SS get a maggie installed and it popped on the dyno just over 500hp so sometimes it's the luck of the draw.

Blowing at just over 500hp had to be a defect from the factory. That’s scary though because you never know. That’s exactly why I’m worried. 😬😬😬. I can’t afford to spend $6500 on a supercharger and then have to spend thousands more on a factory defect I didn’t know about.

If your engine grenades at 500hp then I would be checking the engine's calibration..

stay n/a if you're so worried. if you want to play you need pay.
