Saturday's projects: Installed the ZL1 Addons lift pads followed by the rear rock guards. I am holding off on the front rock guards for a warmer day. Since CA requires a front plate, I also added the Sho N Sto under-bumper license plate bracket.
This was deja vu all over again, as I made these same mods on my 2016. |

![]() I haven't had flaps on several of my previous sports car... there's a point where you have to sacrifice some (potential) protection for aesthetics. |

The factory GM splash shields are way too small even with the factory wheel/tire sizes, and the somewhat more esthetically pleasing ACS rock guards are very expensive.

. I feel it is almost inevitable on a low ground clearance vehicle with wide (& often sticky in comparison to an average car) tires. The flaps can reduce the damage, but I haven't seen where they work well enough to justify having them. Yes, many of the splash shields from the factory do little for protection. I think the manufacturers are also on the fence of protection and/or aesthetics. They do look good because customers can be sold on the idea of protection, but it does very minimal at the end of the day. The same can be said for the interior protectant packages, rust proofing, etc. You can buy a bottle for pennies on the dollar, and have the same protection, for what many often fork out hundreds (if not thousands) for.

I have the paint protection film on my car in the "bad" spots that get hit with rocks. (Front clip & the front of the rear quarters.) Last edited by jamala00; 12-30-2020 at 10:43 AM. |

And I don't even notice them any more - here are some pictures I took right after I installed them on my 2016 which show they are relatively unobtrusive. And the car still regularly gets compliments on its looks, but nobody has ever said "ugly mudflaps!" |
