I’ve always wondered why the Vettes are referred to as C7, C1, etc. Yet the Camaro are referred to as 5th Gen or 6th Gen, etc.

The number designates the Gen. But it’s common knowledge if you said you have a C6 it’s a 6th gen Corvette. Not a 6th Gen Camaro.

Thoughts?

It's semi-random. Corvette has, for as long as I've been associated with GM (late '70s) been referred to internally as C1, C2, C3 etc. Camaro and Firebird were at the same time referred to collectively as F-body. Then Firebird and Pontiac died and Camaro took a lengthy vacation and came back on a completely different platform, so "F-body" just felt wrong. Most other vehicles in the portfolio are referred to as 1st Gen this or 2nd Gen that, so it is a logical step to define the Camaros by generation.

Good explanation.

I ordered Orange pin stripe from Amazon and applied it. I like the look and all the guys at the car show tonight liked it as well.

While at a car show tonight another FIFTY SS was there and we were comparing when I noticed he did not have a strut tower Brace (the one that goes over the engine). Needless to say he was upset. He bought the car new a year ago. I suspect someone at the dealer removed it for their car before he bought it..

If it is a Vert w/o the brace, then I’d be .

The same apply for the C1-C7 it is the internal / officially Name for the Vette and Gen the name for the Camaro (Gemaro)

All good info.

Well, except maybe for Heath’s explanation.
