Sports car, really no comparison to a muscle car. It's one of the only things about mine that I'm not in love with (i.e. it's "sporty" not "muscley")

I see mine to be more of a sports car than a Muscle car.

Probably because "Muscle car" is more of an American thing and he's from NZ?

I think the term "Muscle car" harkens memories of cars that were only good at one thing, high HP numbers. The Camaro, and the Mustang for that matter (no not the Challenger/Charger) are much more in their current iterations. I think the fact that the Camaro (and yes the Mustang) blur the lines is actually a good thing. No longer is the nameplate synonymous with being a "one trick pony". Everyone wants GM to create a "special edition" to send the Camaro off with a bang, I say the current version is special enough.

My paradigm of "Muscle" car is from the '60s and '70s when manufacturers were really only matching engine output/displacement to vehicle size. Then someone decided to have some fun and put the "big car" engine into the intermediate body, the muscle car was born and more focus was put on speed and performance going forward (until the EPA got involved, then everything suffered through the '80s)

Any definition can work in the right context. So to try and pin it down to either/or, somewhat ignores that the industry is a lot different now than when those terms came about.

Sort of like rolling down windows or waiting for a dial tone. These terms are almost meaningless now based on new technology.

We can thank Carroll Shelby and John Delorean for this.
