It's certainly GM's fault. They have made it very clear they will prioritize everyone over Camaro buyers. I understand profit margins but a customer is a customer and priority is priority. A person spending 40k+ shouldn't have to wait with no real status on their build. GM has't stopped doubling down on the EV PR either. How about fill our orders before you double down on a product you CERTAINLY won't be able to make until the semiconductor issue is resolved in 2-3 years. And the offers and rebates don't even compare to Mustang, Charger, Challenger. Bad business IMO

Total agreement. GM should treat ALL factory order customers (tiny fraction of all buyers. less than 5%) for ALL models in a concierge way. We should get a call thanking us and telling us how quickly our car will be built. It should have 1st priority. There should be NO consideration for allocation/consensus among dealers. Why hold customers hostage based upon what dealership they walk into. It is TOTAL marketing stupidity how this is handled even w/o the current delays. fyi - there are over 1,000 dodge competitors on the lot within an easy drive of me. |

I know everyone is upset but you all really have no idea what goes on behind the scenes in car production. It's not what we want to hear but our Camaros don't generate enough profit. There simply aren't enough people like us that want to buy them right now. It is what it is. Don't blame GM, blame everyone that wants an SUV instead of a Camaro right now. Profit margins are everything when you can't build the same amount of vehicles you could 2 years ago. Of course they're going to prioritize their most profitable models. Not just for the good of GM but for the good of the dealers that have A LOT of employees that have families to support. |

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere yet, but here's an article about the Camaro plant starting back up. Sounds like it will be a slow start-up though, and no details on if Camaros or Cadillac products will get priority.

1. Marketing dollars don't effect semi conductor shortage but I can guarantee you it's spitting in the face of people like me who've owned ONLY GM cars New and Used since I've been driving. How about they focus on ALL of their CURRENT paying customers rather than go into a EV pissing contest with Japan, knowing good and damn well Japan and Germany are going to eat GM alive in the economy car space like they've always done.
2. While Dodge and Ford have their issues as well, you don't see them ignoring Challenger, Charger and Mustang owners. Chevy doesn't even do the bare min to even be competitive in this space. If you're done with performance cars just say that, ship out the current placed order and shut it down and focus on your money maker. 3. My 2021 Camaro has a VIN it's been Bayed since the week of 3/1. IDC who's buying what, my $40,000+ spends the same exact way as everyone else. For all the cars that are BUILT should get chips and head out the door. To the people who haven't hit build week sorry, but I put my order in January and a lil note from GM directly apologizing for the inconvenience would be nice. 4. I live in one of the largest counties in the country, I know for a fact my dealer gets more allocation than most dealers. My dealer and entire area hasn't had much to sell for a few months, so if the Chicagoland area can't get cars who the hell is? Certainly not small towns and smaller cities. GM just sucks. Period. Last car I'll buy from them Quote:

Yep. Gm just does not prioritize the Camaro like Ford does the Mustang. I watched the Talladaga races this weekend, and Camaro won 12 of the top 20 slots, Mustang 4 and Toyota 4 places. Chevy used to tout their racing history, but no longer. Camaro is faster, has better handling, yet still lags far behind Mustang sales. When was the last time you saw a Camaro ad on TV? It’s a shame. I can’t wait to get my Camaro in the next few weeks. Hopefully it will live on; even if it has to be electric.

Exactly, I'm really not trying to be "that" customer but I sold my old Camaro and placed an order for this one in Jan. Been w/o a car since jan (didn't really need one when you're up to your neck in snow lol) but now that the weather is nice and I'm moving to Texas, GM is holding up a lot of my plans. it's one thing to treat EVERYONE the same way, I would understand but when you tell me a bunch of people buying 20k Volts and these shitty crossovers or whatever else they are making these days get priority over me then that pisses me off. Even worse when my sales guy who sold my new Camaro has a baby on the way and that dealer who normally has hundreds of cars on their lot look bare now and he's freaking out because he can't sell my car or much else. It's telling me GM has their head up their ass in a very competitive market. Other companies are hungry to earn business especially since we're transitioning to electric. Now it's about who has the most stylish and comfortable appliance.

L cars (Charger, Challenger, 300) will be phased out soon. A little birdy told me something with electrification is going in that plant.
There are several reports that the Mustang is going all electric for the next generation. You're entitled to your opinion, but I'm not sure where you're getting your information. The Japanese are pretty behind on EV development. So much so, that Honda/Acura has to partner with GM. The Japanese companies were banking big on Hydrogen. The biggest competitors in the space are Tesla, and the Germans. GM has put themselves in a good position in the EV race. EV seems to be way forward. Whether you like it or not, whether you want an EV or not, is all besides the point. Semi-conductors are being allocated to the high volume, high profit plants. It's business, I get it. What's the alternative? GM use them on slow selling cars and potentially make themselves financially vulnerable? Then people will cry "old GM" "GM never learns" "GM will be bankrupt again". I'm in the same spot as you, waiting for my car since late Feb/early March. I knew what I was getting into. I knew semi-conductors were a looming issue. I decided to order any way. I'm in the industry, so maybe that's why I don't feel that GM owes me anything - aside from the car I'm buying.

You really just sound like an entitled brat. You're not the only person going through this. I don't understand why you think Bolt/Volt or whatever EV you want to insert to help try and prove your point is getting priority over Camaros or anything else right now. New Bolts haven't started production yet. Neither have the Lyriq, Hummer or any of the other EVs. Volt hasn't been in production since 2019 so I'm not sure why you even brought that one up. |

Do you work for them or something? I could swear I’m talking to a C-level or Director of Marketing for someone to fanboy so much over a poorly managed company. You sound like the idiot that thinks he know everything but knows nothing. You missed the point and it wasn’t really for you anyway other people agree it’s poor business practice. Idc what GM makes other than the Camaro, Corvette, Cadillac and their Trucks. The rest of is garbage you can debate it all you want the fact they’ve blown up half of GMs brands in the last 2 decades and the low sales all around shows they arguably are top 3 worst managed auto manufacturers. But you enjoy whatever you love so much about them. I’ll be the entitled “brat” that gets his Camaro and tells GM to go to..
