No...1LE already have a ZL1 intank, SS cars do not.

You need everything I have.

LT4 injectors
LPE HPFP
ZL1/1LE in-tank pump
JMS booster

or

you could just tap the tank and add a DSX aux pump but it cost more and you do not really need the additional fueling over the other option unless you plan on doing cam/pistons/rods and turning the wick up down the road and going 800+ whp. Changing out the In-tank is also more work.

Random question

Can you use the thermal reduction plates on an ss being adapters are needed to fit the sc to the heads?

So I am kind of pondering the same questions. Spoke to 2 different reputable shops and got 2 vastly different answers. One says headers are mandatory and I also need LT4 fuel. The other recommended meth injection and a smaller pulley (9 psi)
Not 100% sure what I want to do.

I would lean toward the shop that recommended LT headers and LT4 fuel system.

If you pump more air and fuel in to the engine you have to give it a place to go.

power through efficiency.

The Stock fuel system is a limiter of the supercharger and will hold you down to 570-580 RWHP with a good tune.

The LT-4 system will allow a lot more header room and protect your engine from broken rings.

Headers are not mandatory but a good idea. If wanting to keep the factory headers, I would delete the factory cats being that is where the biggest restriction is in the exhaust.

LT4 fueling is a good idea along with a Flex sensor and a Mix of Ethanol. If E is not a option I would probably look at meth to supplement 93 octane. You can't run enough timing on these engines with 93 alone and end up running more boost with less timing to make similar power which lowers efficiency and increases heat in the cylinder.

Octane, more timing, less boost is always a better combination in the end.

The LT1 needs lower compression to run 93 octane with boost efficiently imo. This engine can not even reach MBT naturally aspirated on 93 which is why you see bolt-on cars pick up 25-30whp from E85 alone.


Moral of the story, you can contact 10 different shops and you will get 10 different answers to what works on this platform. Very few places I would trust. Ted knows his stuff so I would listen to him. I bet in most cases he would always recommend a blend of Ethanol in the system on these engines, but if not a option he has the experience to tune a boosted LT1 correctly on 93.

So something like Kooks high flow cats with meth injection would be sufficient? E85 is available but it's not really convenient to where I live or commute. Not looking to set records, just want a reliable setup.

There are two factors to this
1) depends on how much boost we are talking about
2) The NA cars make more power in part because of E85 at max rich power is just injecting FAR more working fluid available for expansion. M eth is even crazier...

Fuel .......................... AFR
Gas stoich ................. 14.7
Gas max power rich .... 12.5
Gas max power lean .... 13.23
E85 stoich .................. 9.765
E85 max power rich ..... 6.975
E85 max power lean .... 8.4687
E100 stoich ................. 9.0078
E100 max power rich .... 6.429
E100 max power lean ... 7.8

So even though 7 to 1 A/F is not really being "burned" efficiently, it is adding to the expansion of the charge during the combustion cycle. Think of it as a steam engine. I've done the math before in the N/A forum, I leave it to the youngons cause mole volume and atomic weight stuff is 1/2 century ago for me.

IMO 11.5 is near perfect at 7 PSI of boost and E85, built engine. For 8+ PSI, I think I would go on the safe side and do 10.5. This is IMO of course. Also remember a built engine is losing a huge amount of static compresion due to bleed off. My cranking compression is like 165 PSI with cam, vs say dunno 220 stock?

For a reliable fast street car skip the meth and go with the LT4 fueling. If you are looking at pushing the limits at the track add the meth. I got both but I am only running meth at the track and turning off the meth and running a more conservative tune on the street.

You guys have to stop using AFR and use Lambda, Lamda avoids all confusion.

NA DI engines .87, Supercharged .82 regardless of fuel type.

NA PI engines .85, Supercharged .78 regardless of fuel type.

I don't think anyone can get in trouble with these Lambda readings.

Switch your gauges to Lambda people!

I specifically used A/F because I was addressing the ability of different fuels to make more max rich power. In just about all other instances I would use Lambda, I don't believe there is a specific Lambda for max power in actual operation; No load dyno readings not withstanding.

It wouldn't be any different you might find max torque and max HP on either side of what I suggested for example if .82 is your target you can go .80 or .84
