Good Luck with the new car. Just seems like you had to "justify" your trade to all of us... just be happy I guess with whatever. You have to live with it after all.
Not needing to justify.

I can tell you that after driving my new 2.0T up to the mountains near my home and back today, this car is exactly as much fun as my old 1LE, in a different way. And it makes me suspect, that the reason 6th gens are fun is, simply that they are 6th gens. No matter the engine, each car is super fun to drive in it's own way. There is nothing "less" about the 2.0T, only different. You trade power and the exhilaration of getting slammed into the back of your seat, for nimble, light weight on the nose, and the anticipation of careening into corners feeling like you are flying. They're BOTH the same "amount" of fun, but, where you experience the fun on the road is different. I say this, because previously I had assumed the smaller engine models would be quantitatively "less" fun, and I was wrong about that. And, if this thread ever helps someone pick the right car for them, then job accomplished

Not trying to knock your comments but I got to say most likely not...I think most people know what they want or spend time behind the wheel of each model and figure out what fits their lifestyle of driving. All your going to get from here is feedback from each side of the fence 4 vs 8

I read the forums when I bought mine but it was for issues with the model or upgrades, not which motor I needed.. that's what the dealership is for..it's called test driving JMHO

Point taken, but also realize there ARE a lot of people trying to decide which engine they want, not everyone knows already, and sometimes people have pre-conceived notions about the cars when they go to the dealership, and might not test drive something because of it. I certainly did that. I didn't even drive a 2.0T when I bought my SS-1LE and I should have. Shoot, I still haven't even driven the V6. Maybe that's what I'll end up with next
You are right, most will have their mind made up or, decide at the lot, but the forum is not just for DIY posts or "what exhaust should I get". It's for discussions like this that people can look back to in the history, before they go to the dealership, study what other people's driving impressions are, then make a plan for what cars they want to test drive and why. If anything I just hope my post makes somebody try the 2.0T when they otherwise wouldn't, because *I* was one of those people.

Glad to see you like your change! That was a very well written post and a good read. You'll find out the 2.0l camaro is one of the most underrated cars out there. Enjoy your new ride!

Sounds like u made the choice that works for you. As for the SS 1LE being ponderous, that is laughable considering it has been rated as one of the best drivers cars on the market at any price point, beat out cars costing twice as much, and has been compared to super cars in the handling department.

I dont think many of us use the power available on the streets at least, but it is damn nice knowing it's there and it's fun to blast through the gears getting up to the legal speed limit...

To me, it does feel slow acceleration wise, but I've owned and built some really fast cars over the years.

Regardless, enjoy your new ride :-)

Amen, OP. The Gen 6 Camaro has a great chassis and there is a lot of merit to getting the cheapest version of a good chassis. Some examples are base Golf, base 911, 230i.

I wanted a 1LE because I track and autocross a lot, and have use of another DD car. I drove the SS 1LE first and liked it, but it felt like a beast and perhaps frustrating to drive on the street where it's capabilities are hard to access. Plus I thought about the cost of consumables during track use.

When I drove the V6 1LE, it felt lighter, more tossable, the engine with NPP exhaust sounded great, and I had more fun. So far I have been beating the SS and ZL1s at autocross, and the big track performance has been excellent.

For $28k, it's a lot of car and feels better to save the money than to stretch my budget for the SS 1LE. If I had the $$$, I'd be rolling in a C7 GS or a Lotus Evora 400, but I made the right choice for me at this stage of my life.

I read it all. I get it on some levels as I rented a gen6 v6 vert a while back and found it almost as fun as the SS in some ways; however, still can't justify the huge $$ loss in this trade...considering it is an absolute downgrade in almost every way along with the big hit. I also speak from experience having traded my 14' stang gt for an mk7 gti PP thinking it was more toss-able and the the low mid turbo boost was as/more fun, I ended up getting rid of the GTI in less than a year and going back to a 15 GT, talk about poor decisions financially...

BTW, I have a hellcat that I rarely go WOT but knowing the power in any gear/speed is there is very satisfying to me. When I want to hop in a lighter tossable corner carver, I take the miata. I am fortunate to have these options.

But hey, that's my story, just posting my opinion as in the end is subjective. To each their own!

LOL its ok man. At the end of the day, you are online writing a damn school essay comparing and explaining life choices.

jus·ti·fyDictionary result for justify

/ˈjəstəˌfī/

Learn to pronounce

verb

1.

show or prove to be right or reasonable.

"the person appointed has fully justified our confidence"

synonyms:give grounds for,*give reasons for,*give a justification for,*show just cause for,*explain,*give an explanation for,*account for,*show/prove to be reasonable,*provide a rationale for,*rationalize;*

You are justifying your trade. And thats fine. Good luck with your car. Enjoy it... but for what its worth, you will never convince me or most SS owners that the 4 cyl. Camaro is "just as fun"

Sorry, but what's wrong with 'justifying' something? I come to the forums to read how people justify things, that's whole point. People write how they justify a camaro's poor visibility for example.

I need help 'justifying' buying a camaro, when it makes absolutely no practical sense in my life ..... LOL

Well, most people come on forums or talk to other car "guys and gals" to get opinions on a deal they've done/will be doing. More importantly, many people try to rationalize their deal by explanation and hope that others will agree with it. These types of threads happen all the time.

And guess what? All of them are filled with biased and unbiased opinions. All you have done is come in here and act like a complete 12 year old asshat. Not one of your posts have been constructive or helpful really.

Additionally, the post you quoted me on and felt the need to reply on, was a response from me to another poster in this thread. Where I was specifically asked about what I meant. If you can't figure out how to adult, I'd suggest learning...
