Wished I was at the end of my 3 year BTB to take advantage of the pricing!
Great deal.

one reason for the pricing by GM (esp for lower miles and years coverage) might be that GM knows they already cover power-train to 5/60K, so what they are covering as a company is somewhat duplicated between the OEM power train warranty and GMEPP warranty product and they know that. Other providers will probably not account for that.

Agreed. That’s what I said too. But for this cost and these cars being so complicated and what Chevy considers drive train why not.

BTW - my research shows that there are tiers of pricing changes based on miles - i.e. between 11,999K and after 12K there is about a 30% jump in price. There may be other tiers too. However, getting this before 12K is clearly a lot better than after....just FYI.

I would expect that there are similar price changes based on elapsed time as well. For example, regardless of mileage, the cost will be higher to add to your B2B at 30 months versus at 11.

yes for sure, but the pricing grid that i got shows that cost is more co-related to miles than anything else. of course, getting it after the B2B warranty expires has an impact as well.

Also, GMEPP rates were not as competitive for an Audi that i was looking to get warranty on - Fidelity worked out much much better. Troy is the guy for that!

That’s because you are buying less warranty due to already being covered by the factory. If you read the last two pages of this thread it will be explained.

I was one of the ones that helped explained that.

I know I’m bringing up an old thread but has anyone actually had to use their extended warranty that they purchased in this thread? The dealership I’m buying my 2020 ZL1 from is offering me an aftermarket “cheaper” warranty they claim compared to the GM factory BtoB and I’d like to get a legitimate GM BtoB warranty if possible......thanks for any help.

Is it truly cheaper? I would doubt it. Get the pricing from the sources on this thread and then post ur comparison- I would very much doubt that any good aftermarket will be cheaper than the GM warranty (if u go through the low cost dealers mentioned on this thread)

The dealership is motived ONLY by profit. If they are pushing an aftermarket warranty, it's because they earn more money on it than selling the GM one and/or their close rate on the aftermarket ones is much higher (some profit is better than none).

Here's a data point from a good friend who was part owner in and ran the finance desk at a dealership in Queens, NY.

They sold aftermarket warranties for $1000-$1500 (asked 1500, would settle for 1000 with "tough customers").

Their cost: $275.

He sold thousands of them over the decade+ he ran the desk before they sold the dealership. It was his single highest % source of profit at the dealership, above all other sales items (road hazard, "true-coat", no fee service plans, etc.).

Full disclosure: I paid $3800 for Hyundai platinum extended warranties on two Hyundai Genesis cars, an '09 and a '12 for coverage to 120k/10 years, zero deductible. Total repairs covered under warranty over 6 years on 2 cars: $450+250+400+2477+2190: $5767, so ~$2k to the good in my case with these two cars. In Florida, extended warranties are legally insurance, so pro-rata refundable and in my case, balance-transferrable since I used the same dealer for both.

The cost of the Chevy plan for my Z was too high, and it's not a daily driver and parts/service are MUCH easier to get on a Chevy, so I passed.

YM as they say MV...
