IMO the only real necessities would be MRC and the V8. Personally I think the 1LE pkg is a no brainer but some people don't want to drive a manual or need their blind spot monitoring and color changing dash.

V8 was kind of a given. Nothing wrong with the other choices, but I'm a dinosaur, need mah V8.
Manual vs auto is really a personal/purpose decision. If I was going to drag race/race in Mexico or a daily commuter I would lean automatic, but for a fun car and the sound factor going through the twisties the manual gets the nod. 1LE would be my top pick of the naturally aspirated choices. Leather Recaros. Mag ride. HUD. Bigger brakes. Big fat tires. Actual aero design rather than just for looks. More sorted out suspension. For better or worse, the NPP rattle trap. I like the 2SS package with all the luxury bits, leather and all, but the simplicity of the 1SS has it's advantages as less to fail and annoy you later. So it would be a toss up between a well thought out 1SS versus a stripped 2SS. I'm looking at picking up a Camaro at the beginning of the year and just trying to make up my mind on what I will be able to swing and what's the best bang for the buck. Window shopping on autotrader and there's a couple I would go for, and I watched a couple nice ones disappear. |

Because it does not displace EXACTLY 6.200 liters. Or exactly 376.00 cubic inches either.
6.2L is just a rounded-off "close enough" kind of number for quicker understanding and easier use conversationally than saying it was a 6162cc engine (which is still a rounded-off number). "Real " real world math would require you to do the math starting from the basic cylinder dimensions of bore & stroke, not the advertiser's rounded off displacement number . . . for an 8 cylinder engine use 2 x pi x bore^2 x stroke. 103.25 mm bore x 92.00 mm stroke gives (to one decimal place) 6162.4 cc, or 6.1624 L. Converted to cubic inches, that's 6.1624 x 61.0237 cu in/L = 376.05 cubic inches. Or in cubic inches, 4.065" bore x 3.622" stroke for 376.05 cubic inches directly. All dimensions sourced from http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/crate-engines/ls3 because even the inch measurements are commonly rounded off to only two decimal places. Norm

We also wanted the sunroof (no headroom issue for us & I'll never drag race so don't need helmet clearance). We got he M6 but an A8 would have been in consideration if we found the right car. But I'm also a dinosaur - a car like this and an M6 felt like the way it should be. |

For me personally...
1. M6/V8 2. MRC 2.5. NPP 3. Sunroof 4. 2SS Package(mostly for blindspot monitoring) Everything else was a bonus/steal for the price I got.

My $0.02; My cruise control is a can't live without item. With as much UNWANTED attention as this car gets from local law enforcement, the cruise control and it's ability to work down to 20 miles per hour, saves me a boat load of tickets.

1) Red Hot 2) Red interior 3) 2SS w/A8 4) MRC 5) NPP |
