I live in Las Vegas, where we see drivers from all over. Note - my references are for anywhere BUT the STRIP!!!!
My observations, from worst on down: 1. Californians. They ignore the speed limit - they just like the fact that traffic actually moves here, so they will just rocket by at any speed. Rules do not apply to them. Plus, many [too many...] have moved here from California, bringing their "gotta get there NOW" attitude. It tapers off a bit after a while, but all the tourists bring many variations of driving habits. 2. Washington State. Total disregard for stop signs, passing, speed limits, etc. There just aren't as many of them as Californians. 3. Utah. Totally oblivious to the traffic around them - either way too fast, or way too slow, and in the fast lane. 4. All tourists in rental cars. Geez, people! Map out your destination BEFORE YOU GET ON THE ROAD AND GO 20 under the limit [ or worse, stop at a light and stay stopped].. I have to drive to LA and back periodically, and without fail, there will be a white knuckled driver in a rental sedan going precisely 2 MPH LESS than the limit, IN THE FAST LANE. Flashing lights does nothing, so there is no option but passing on the right. Then they still have no clue of what they are doing. Plenty of signs saying "SLOW TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT".... Just sayin' |

I drove Hazmat trucks (hence my avatar) 48 states before quitting due to all the gov't mandates and elogs, governed trucks bs. I have driven nearly everywhere and Yes Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, are absolutely the worse cities imho. I find Florida (I 75 and I 10) to actually be very good overall. I typically haul ass (being honest) and in Florida I get passed on a regular basis plus they DO use turn signals most of the time.
New Jeresy sucks, Ny sucks, Chicago is a nightmare lol, Miami (city limits is awful), Northern California everybody drives slow, Oregon and Washington are not bad per say but dammit man do they drive super slow (very annoying) as they drive the speed limit lol. My favorites are Florida, Southern California (during non rush hour), Arizona along I 10. Can't really speak much for other states oh and to me Ohio is not that bad either. |

Oh and that's another thing that gripes my butt, people homestead in the left lane and most times don't even go the speed limit and if you do get a chance to pass them in the right lane they speed up to the car ahead of you and block your passing them. I have had this plenty of times occur and feel like doing a NASCAR bump on them to get them out of the way. I had this happen to me on 65 N coming back to Georgia that this car was camped out in the left lane and wouldn't move over for nothing. When I did finally get around them in the right lane, they moved over to the right lane and slowed down. It was a Nissan or Toyota and I guess they had a problem with a Camaro SS passing them.

Unfortunately, until the robots can save us, these drivers exist in every country, every state because nobody has the balls to tell 50% (at least) of the population that they're too stupid to drive.

[QUOTE=Casalino;9569545]yes, in new york they like to drive in the left lane going the same speed as the right lane. But i think everyone in the states does it. Only in europe they enforce that law. That's why europeans are lucky and can have the autobahn. That would never work here.
Just a comment on this. Autobahns are only in Germany, and not all of them have no speed limit. But, if you're driving in the left lane, you best move to the right the second you see flashing lights behind you, 'cause they don't slow down. Saw some horrific crashes, too. At high speeds, doesn't matter if BMW, Audi, Mercedes or Porsche, cars at those speeds disintegrate. Distracted drivers all over the world..... |

Downstate NY. Meaning all 5 boroughs and the surrounding areas including northern NJ, Southern CT, and Nassau/Sufffolk county.
Close and lock this thread, we're all done here. I've lived in TX and yep, Houston, SA, Dallas all suck. Lived in north and southern FL, Miami is crazy. Even lived in San Fransisco. Hands down the rudest most self involved people in the country on the roads. But NY driving and drivers are just the worst of the worst.

Florida is bad because all the asshats from up north move down here, come to visit here or stay part time aka snowbirds.
As such, my choices are Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, NY, NJ, Mass. and not in any particular order. |

Being a Floridian, we see everyone else. NY & PR are by far the worst for parking and driving. People bitch about illegal Mexican drivers, but PR drivers probably have more suspended licenses and zero insurance than any other group in the US. None of the northerners understand basic road rules. Slower traffic keep right and the left lane is for passing only; pass someone and get back over.
But we also have foreign tourists. South America is the worst, followed by eastern Europe and then the Middle East. |

Florida is bad but Massholes are just the worst. CT drivers are aggressive, but EVERYONE is driving fast. Who doesn't like cruising with traffic at 85?
Chicago drivers aren't as bad as NY/Mass but the city's traffic is pretty horrendous.

Regarding the driving tests.... I also think they are trash. Over in my area all I had to do was go around the block, the was 2 traffic lights maybe and then parallel park and I was golden..... if I was the driVlving instructor..you better bring a lunch for you and me because we're going to be out here allllll day. We're hitting all kinds of traffic, merging onto major highways and to finish it off, we're gonna hit the city so you can parallel park while everyone watches lol

Visited Santo Domingo Dominican Republic in December and even know its not part of our country the laws there are pretty simple from what i learned. Have money to bribe the police when you get to a checkpoint or pulled over, you can blow red lights after you stop as its legal, drinking and driving is ok there
and when i first arrived a guys head was splattered on the floor after being hit by a work truck on his motor scooter. Great first thing to see on your ride to the hotel straight from the airport. New York City, 5 boroughs has to be at the top of the list other then South Florida as Snowbirds is a correct culprit and older people that should not still be driving on the road going way under the speed limits. |
