Back to bowtie power
I got very interested in the 6th gen when I was reading and watching all the test reports coming in. I thought the Cadillac CTS and ATS were very good cars, and the new Camaro was based on this platform. When the LT1 was added to this combo, and the 50th anniversary edition, I became very interested. I have a company car for a daily driver, and my wife has a Cadillac CTS sport wagon. Our fun car was a 2006 Honda S2000, loved this car, but was a very hardcore sports car. We wanted something with a little more creature comforts and room. My wife was on board as long as the Camaro was a convertible.
Have had the 50th anniversary ss convertible (6sp, npp, F55,) for a month now and absolutely love the car. Brings a big smile to my face every time I hit the starter button, and that great sounding exhaust wakes up the neighbors! Cheers, Greg |

For me I have a C5 corvette and C5 SS and the new Gen 6 SS has the best of both worlds so I can go down to one toy that has it all.

I started with a 2012 2LT that I traded for a 2014 2SS/RS because I wanted a V-8. The dealer that sold me the 2014 kept bugging me to test drive the new 6th gen so I did.
I wanted to dislike the 2016 so that I could justify keeping my 2014. I got mad when the dealer started the 2016 on the test drive because that LT1 motor with NPP sounds really mean on a cold start. I also got mad because the A8 transmission shifted fast and I was tired of rowing my own gears in the previous two Camaros. More horsepower, better torque, and improved handling just plain pissed me off because now I knew I had to have that stupid 2016. Long story short, I went from a 2014 2SS/RS M6 to a 2016 1SS A8 with NPP and couldn't be happier. I needed the 1SS to make it work financially and gladly traded the creature comforts in my old car for performance in my new car. |

I wanted that V8. My DD has always been a Camaro since '08.

I had never been a car brand loyalist, I have owned a few cars over the years with different setups from V8s, 4 bangers, rotaries, you name it, and enjoyed parts of each of them. I did however love my V8 cars more than anything else. I purchased a 2014 Mustang GT 5.0 brand new back in 2013 and I loved the car at the time. It had a powerful V8 from the factory and Mustangs always had amazing parts availability due to their popularity and the price of aftermarket parts reflected this which I loved as I could never keep a car stock for more than a month. The problem was that I purchased that car on the way back from my 1st deployment in the middle east, which made it tax free. I thought have a tax free car purchase was awesome, I had it registered in NC and I'm sure if I stayed there I never would have owed the government any taxes on it. That was until I got out of the military and moved to New York where they insisted in telling me that I would not be able to register my car until I pay the sales tax (which was about 8.5%) on the NEW value of the car. I was heartbroken, there was no way I would pay over $3000 to register a 3 year old car that had already depreciated a decent amount. I had so much money and time invested into the car, it was pushing out about 550hp on a shot of nitrous and had too many bolt ons to count.
I sold the car and purchased a cheap Honda Civic telling myself to keep it for a year and save money for another car I will enjoy. I was looking into so many different cars, most notably a used E92 M3 caught my eye, but the maintenance costs scared me away. Then I looked into a few newer cars that I could lease out and I knew the new Camaro was a great car so I drove the the dealership and gave it a test drive. I had never owned a car with an automatic transmission and the first Camaro I drove had the A8. I was pessimistic about it until I go the car out and used the paddles and realized just how blisteringly fast the shifts are and how much control I had over the car's performance with that transmission. The motor of course blew me away too, I would compare the performance of the stock 6.2 liter to the 5.0 WITH the nitrous, the torque was always there and the 8 gears really helped put it to great use. I went home and told myself I will wait a few months and save some more money to possibly buy one. That week all I could think about was the car, I was watching videos all day long, lurking this forum, so a week later I leased it out and I could not be happier. I now intend to purchase my car toward the end of the lease as I love this car. Every time I drive it a smile appears on my face.

I have worked in the car business on the manufacturer side as a rep ever since I got out of school in the mid 70s. I haven't owned a car ever, since I always got a company car of the company that I was driving. In the 40 some years since the 70s, I worked for BMW Porsche and Honda, Ending with BMW after 24 years. I have practically driven everything out there because we do a lot of test comparison drives for salesmen where we pull in all the other cars. But when I retired in 2013, I always wanted a Chevy V-8. I still get a free BMW as part of my retirement package,so I have another SUV from them. And I like the Camaro so I bought a 13ss, I love that car, it was pretty heavy, felt like a little bit of a tank versus the BMWs m's I preferred. But when the new Corvette came out in late 13 I had to have it. I love the look of that car. So I bought one of the first ones, drove it for 2 1/2 years ,I had no problems with it. However as I got older, and started having back problems, the Corvette was my daily driver and it was just too low for me to get out of in and out of. So last December I traded for the new Camaro after going down to look at it, I really like the looks and it's higher, I traded the vette. I bought a V-6 because I've had enough of the v8. I've got it out of my system, 335 hp is more than enough for a V-6, and this new V-6 is fantastic. I have had no problems in a year and plan on keeping it for another couple years. If you haven't owned a V8 Chevy, I don't think you Will get it out of your system and be happy with a V6. I am , because I just made that life change where 335 hp to run around town is more than enough. It all depends on your life situation.
Trade in day:

Traded in a 5th gen ZL1 convertible for a 6th gen ZL1 coupe. Obviously the extra horsepower and torque was a major factor in my decision to trade, but almost equally important was the additional creature comforts (memory seat, auto climate control, blind spot sensors, keyless entry/start, etc) that are standard on the 6th gen. The 500 lbs weight reduction going from a 5th gen convertible to 6th gen coupe also didn't hurt.

Had a tuned 2009 BMW 135i for summer, and a 2016 STI for winter.
My job situation changed and I no longer drive to work, so I didn't feel the need to have two cars anymore when I only drive around 6000km a year. I also have access to a Forester XT should I need to drive through snow. Got someone to buy out the lease on the STI, and was looking for something to replace the BMW. I test drove a new Mustang GT Premium and while I liked it, I didn't like it enough to go from a paid off car to car payments again. I love the looks and sounds of a Challenger 392 but the car is just too much of a boat for my taste. The BMW 235i was nice but imo not enough of an upgrade over my current car. Didn't want to spend the money to go up to an M2 or M4 right now. Test drove a Camaro SS after seeing so many glowing reviews, and loved it enough to trade in the BMW.

What made me switch to a gen 6 Camaro?
I switched to a gen 6 Camaro because I was having trouble with my daily driver, a '99 Trans Am WS-6 (I am the original owner). While I was getting that sorted out I had a gen 5 Camaro as a loaner car. I didn't care for the gen 5 very much (long list of shortcomings) but it got me thinking about a new car and I began looking at new and low mileage Stingrays and also new high end Mustangs. I was leaning toward the Mustang and had actually configured one I wanted. At that time I had not heard or seen anything about the gen 6 Camaro. The issue with my Trans Am took much longer than expected and during that time I saw an article about the New Camaro. I called the largest local dealer and discovered that they would receive the first shipment in a couple of weeks. I waited and when they arrived I arranged to go for a test drive. That's all it took. No explanation necessary in this forum. After talking turkey with several local dealers and realizing nobody had or was getting exactly what I wanted and I would have to order it, and they were not competitive with their deal, I found what I was looking for at a dealership in Plano, TX. I contacted them and thirty minutes later placed a down payment over the phone. A few days later I flew from Florida to Texas and picked up my new loaded 2SS. The dealership in Plano took excellent care of me and I highly recommend them. Chevy could have filmed every aspect of the purchase and vehicle delivery as a training film. The first few months I had the car it generated a lot of positive interest. It was the first gen 6 Camaro most gear heads had seen in person. Several local Mustang enthusiasts treated me to their brand loyalty inspired finger wave, which I take as the ultimate compliment. I have enjoyed the car immensely and appreciate it more and more the longer I drive it. It is a phenomenal daily driver and just begs to go on the occasional spirited drive. I've been very pleased with it and consider this the best vehicle purchase I've ever made.
FYI - I kept the Trans Am WS-6 and my wife still enjoys driving it. |

I saw one from a distance back in March, and knew I wouldn't want to continue making payments on my '13 LS. So I waited for an SS to get into the 32k range, and I got it in April.

As others have stated, I'm a sports car fan which means handling over 0-60 for me. The pony cars were not in the sports car category. When the transmission went out in my 09 370Z (right before twin turbos...), I decided to look around at other cars. I started looking at the stats for the 16 camaro and was blown away (bought before M4 article). Lighter, great handling and power/tq in a package which has a lot of luxury for a sports car sold me on it.
