if you are a paid entrant, you do not have to pay for lunchtime parade laps. make sure you eat and hydrate, then take your family out for a slow lap. no passing slow speeds, no helmets, all ages.
we can take a young one on instructor hot laps at like 14 years old. it might be 12, ill find out.
i told them Don.

I'm ready to register, already registered for Road Course Challenge on Friday and Saturday, but have a question. What run group do you recommend for someone who has never seen the NCM track but runs in the Advanced Run Group at Watkins Glen? Not signed off for the permanent solo group yet, but instructors are turning me loose to run solo in the Advanced group before the end of the first day of two day events this year. Only been to one other track (Mosport in Canada)which is even faster than WGI. If I go with the Intermediate - solo or Advanced group can I get an instructor for the first session to ride along for some feedback?

I paid for Novice and Hot-laps with instructor.

Did not pay for lunchtime laps.

Thanks! Very stoked!

Is there going to be HPDE insurance for the event?

well, first of all, im jealous. WGI is on my bucket list. if you can run there solo, your pretty good. you should be in the intermediate 1 or intermediate solo group obviously. just some info, we are doing lead follow first session in the morning. the intermediate 1 will be expected to solo the last session of the day. we want to trust you guys and have you go be conservative and successful. intermediate solo will be expected to solo after the first lead follow of the day. one of the instructors might be willing to ride with you a few laps on your first session. i cant promise i will but we can ask the guys. i have some killer top tier instructors coming. some of them have way more experience than i. maybe this extra info will help you make the decision. also, there are only like 16 cars each in the novice and intermediate 1 groups. if people will give points in the passing zones, there should be lots of clear track.

you could get lockton im sure. if there is an event that is not on their website already, you can email them and ask. ive done that before and they signed me up right away. you can get lockton through the corvette museum. it doesnt cost any more, the museum just gets credit for the sale.
ill email fred early next week and see if they will cover us.

I talked to lockton rep last year to get both the Camaro Fest track day on Thursday and Michaels Camaro track day on Friday included as one event for a cheaper rate for Camaro5.

For a novice like me @ NCM, this was a pretty cool video on how to drive NCM -- with an instructor narrative and HUD display!

An a hot lap:

3.2 mile layout:

Study, study, study and 'visualize' the track ;o)

i

the middle video above is the east course. the top and bottom video above are the layout we are running but they are extremely early videos with the old pit entry. this first video of mine is an extremely slow tutorial i made last year. it is fairly early too but is after we made the change to pit entry. this is the current pit entry we will be using.

here is the way the current track looks. it has some new curbs and the turn into turn 5 is now after the 1 marker not before like my tutorial video. this is the instructor group in the fastest group that runs at NCM. dont let this scare you off. we will be doing lead/follow slow laps for everyone to get comfortable first thing in the morning at our event. the novice and intermediate 1 groups will have an in car instructor and will be starting slow.

this one is from one week ago. it shows a lot of the facilities. its me and my buddy dicing. this is the advanced group.

i made a turn by turn the other day. i was in a quiet car so you could hear me talk. only problem was, in a Z06 my helmet cam shows the headliner more than it does the track. ill make it up and post it. the video is not a good angle at all but the audio is hillbilly gold lol.
