The description this time from engineer (vs explanation I got at Camarofest in August when looking at the prototype in early development) is the trumpet only allows sound through and completely blocks off direct airflow to or from the cabin. Think you have it right.

The trumpet looked the same to me on the V8 and V6, just a lttile further downstream in the V6 ... so I asked the engineer if it was the same trumpet and he said it is. Further, it was stated that the sole determination of how much sound is transmitted through the tube is done by the driver via his foot pushing on the accelerator pedal for engine revs (no special computer or electrically controlled valve). I followed the full length of both sections of the tube and only saw the trumpet attached mid-way and nothing but the tubes were hooked up to it from what I could see.
